Lightsaber Rhythms

On September 19, 2018, Second Grade students at McCoy Elementary School chanted different rhythms in music.  The force is definitely strong with this group as they chant different rhythms with their lightsabers. Mrs. Parker said, “Second grade music is out of this world!”

Mathematical thinking is always at home at McCoy Elementary School!  On September 12, Mr. Powell’s Second Grade Mathematicians added strings of numbers together to increase their number fluency.  They can solve problems easier than using a calculator!

Reflections Art Contest

Students at McCoy Elementary School are super artists!  That’s why so many McCoy Cowboys enter the Reflections art contest every year.  This year the theme is “Heroes Around Me”. Students may create entries illustrating that theme in any of these categories:  dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, or visual arts. Entries are due to art teacher Ms. Wheatley by October 12, 2018.

5th Grade Writers at McCoy

Students at McCoy Elementary School are talented writers!  On September 10th and 11th, Fifth Grade LEAPers practiced hiding haikus in free verse poems as well as practiced crafting small moment narratives.  Their teacher Ms. Ford said, “We’re poets and we didn’t…wait, we did know it!”
