Dress Code

Standardized Dress for La Villita Elementary

SHIRTS:
Shirts must be a solid navy, red, white, or hunter green knit, polo style with collar with long or short sleeves. In cooler weather, solid color turtlenecks, sweatshirts, and sweaters may be worn and should also be navy, white, red or hunter green. Shirts worn under a spirit shirt or Polo-style shirt must be solid white, black or match the polo/shirt color.

PANTS:
Docker style slacks or shorts will be navy blue or Khaki and skirts/shorts/skorts must be at fingertip length or longer when the arms are extended down the side of the leg. Pants must be fitted at the waist, not sagging or extra-long in length. Leggings are not allowed to be worn as pants, only under shorts or skirts which are the appropriate length. Leggings should be solid red, white, black, navy, khaki or hunter green. Colored denim or skin tight pants or jeans are not allowed.

SHOES:
Students will attend PE and/or recess every day. Closed toe/tennis shoes should be worn for safety and be appropriate for running and other physical activities. Shoes with lights are not allowed because they cause a distraction in the classroom. No flip flop or sandal style shoes should be worn. Socks and tights should be solid red, white, black, navy, khaki or hunter green.

SWEATERS and SWEATSHIRTS:
Students may wear “size appropriate” solid navy, white, red, black, or hunter green sweaters or sweatshirts. La Villita Spirit sweatshirts are encouraged and will be available for purchase during the school year.

SPIRIT WEAR:
Students may wear the Command Coding Academy Spirit Shirt on Fridays with blue jeans, jean shorts or jean capris. The La Villita Spirit shirts will be sold at school in the school office. On Fridays, if students are not wearing a spirit shirt then regular uniform attire is required. Denim overalls would not be appropriate to wear to school.

COATS:
Any coat or jacket may be worn to and from school during cold weather. All coats and jackets will be stored in the classroom and will not be worn during instructional time.

DRESS CODE VIOLATIONS:
Parents will be notified of dress code violations. Administrators will have the final authority as to compliance with the dress code policy.
Families may find all of these items at reasonable prices at local retailers like Target, Wal-Mart, J.C. Penny, Kohl’s, Old Navy and others.
