When to Keep Your Child Home

When should I keep my student home?
Keep your child home if he/she has a fever (100° F or over), diarrhea, vomiting, red draining eyes, draining ear or undiagnosed skin rash or skin condition (draining sores, bumps, constant itching, etc.).

When can my student return to school?

  • Fever free (under 100 degrees Farenhiet) for 24 hours without fever reducing medication.
  • Diarrhea free for 24 hours (because of cryptosporidium the County Health Department is asking that student’s be symptom free for 24 hours before being in school).
  • Chickenpox: exclude until the lesions become dry and until 24 hours have passed with no new lesions occuring.
  • Conjunctivitis: exlude until physician permission to return or until symptom free.
  • Ringworm: no exclusion if infected area can be complete covered by clothing/bandage, otherwise exclude until treatment has begun.
