Universal Access

Carrollton Farmers Branch is dedicated to providing our students with technology through the Universal Access Program. This program has two parts:

Lending Library – computers and modems available on campuses for check out from campus library

  • Each campus has laptop computers and modems for check out from the library for students needing them to do school work; laptops are also Wi-Fi capable
  • Laptops provided are compliant with the rules for the Children’s Internet Protection Rules
  • Parents are required to sign a permission slip before these can be taken home
  • Check out is for a short period – two weeks or until completion of assignment

Home Access Program – these are computers available to be given to families in our district

  • These computers are those that have outlived their use in the district and are reimaged
  • The computers are loaded with a free version of a word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • Free antivirus program loaded to help prevent viruses.
  • Families are recommended for these computers by their campuses
  • Selection is based on need
  • This program is only available as computers from the district are accessible.
