Pre-K FAQ for 2020-2021

Can my child qualify for free PreK?

You can work with the school to confirm if your child qualifies for free Pre-K. A child can qualify for free Pre-K if they meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Limited English proficient (TEC, §29.153(b))
  2. Economically disadvantaged
  3. Homeless (42 USC, §11302, and 42 USC, §11434(a)
  4. A child of an active duty member of the United States armed forces
  5. A child of a member of the United States armed forces who was injured or killed while serving on active duty
  6. A child in foster care (presently or in the past)
  7. A child of a recipient of the Star of Texas Award
If my child does not qualify for free PreK, can I pay for PreK?

Yes. We offer a full day tuition-based Pre-K program option. Spaces are limited and are filled on a first come, first served basis. Parents can submit their application for admission into our Early Learning (Parents Pay for PK) at www.cfbstellar.com beginning January 7, 2020 for the 2020-2021 school year.

What is the cost to pay for PreK, if my child does not qualify for free?

There is a $100 non-refundable application fee followed by a monthly tuition fee of $550 for full day.

What schools have a PreK program?

Blair, Blanton, Carrollton, Central, Farmers Branch, Freeman, Furneaux, Good, Kent, Landry, McKamy, McLaughlin Strickland, McWhorter, Riverchase, Rosemeade, Stark

How do I know which Pre-K school is designated to my home address?

You can check your address at cfbmaps.com to see which elementary school is designated to you for Pre-K.

Is there transportation for Pre-K?

There is no transportation provided for students attending a school on an approved transfer. However, if your child is attending their designated campus, based on your address, and there is a bus route already in place for your address, then your child can ride the bus. For more information, you can contact the transportation once at 972-968-6321.

How old does my child need to be for Pre-K?

Our district offers Pre-K for students who turn 4 years old by September 1st of the enrolling year.

Can I apply for my child to attend a school different from the one designated to my address?

Yes, you may submit an application for a transfer. Spaces are limited and are filled on a first come, first served basis. Parents can submit their application for a transfer at cfbstellar.com.

I don’t live in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch attendance zone. Can my child attend Pre-K in the district?

Yes, we invite out of district students to apply for admission. Spaces are limited and are filled on a first come, first served basis. Parents can submit their application for admission at cfbstellar.com.

Can my child attend the After the Bell (ATB) program?

We do offer an after school care program, ATB, for an additional cost. This service is available until 6pm. Space is limited and are filled on a first come, first served basis. You can find more information at cfbisd.edu/atb/.
