Ingri Reyes – 8th Grader
Infinity by Sherilyn Kenyon

I really liked this book because of Nick’s’ sarcastic attitude and the fact that Nick, a 14 year old, thinks he knows everything there is know about new Orleans and he’s so wrong. There’s a whole other world that’s right In front of him but, he refuses to believe! Although he’s handling it (and not exactly in the best way) however he can.

Lone Star Book
Blind Spot for Boys by Justina Chen

Shana is tried of her breakups. After her ugly breakup with Dom, a business school boy, she decides to take her mind off boys and focus in the main thing she likes. Which is photography.

One fine morning, Shana is taking photos at the Gum Wall, when a boy named Quattro slams into her. She has to  keep reminding herself that she is done with boys. But her interest blooms up. They challenge each other to come Voodoo Doughnut the next day.

But the next day, she has only reached there when she gets to know that her parents have been trying to call her. She rushes home only to find a troublesome news. Her dad had missed a rung while climbing a ladder, and he is going blind.

While her mom is trying to deny the fact, Shana wants to do something else with her family. She and her mom promise to make the remaining time her father has left to see, the most amazing time he’s ever had. Together they plan to go to Machu Picchu. Along with Stesha, Shana’s best friend’s grandmother and several other people.

Even then, Shana can’t get Quattro out of her mind. As Shana’s and Quattro’s world collide, she doesn’t think even she can control it.

I loved this book. It has loss, humor, and what can happen when you have a heartbreak. Shana is a girl I would imagine with a camera always hanging around her neck. She loves photography and that’s what I like about her.

Bluebonnet Book
Quinny and Hopper by Adriana Brad Schanen

I thought this was a great book! I loved that Quinny was super bummed out from moving from New York to Whisper Valley, but it actually turned out pretty well for her. At first, Hopper was very quiet but she and Quinny became very good friends until Quinny learned about boys and 3rd grade, and Hopper wasn’t too friendly after that. 🙁 Overall though, this book was amazing!

The Great Trouble: a mystery of London, the blue death, and a boy called Eel by Deborah Hopkinson

I really loved this book. It was about a boy called Eel who had lost his dad and mom recently and is not making much money. Suddenly everything turns upside down and Eel loses one of his jobs, Mr. Griggs gets sick and Mr. Edwards says that bad air has come to London.
