Dress Code & Permitted/Prohibited Items

Students are required to be in Salazar dress code during enrollment and intake.

In addition to the Dress and Grooming Policy of the C-FB ISD Student Code of Conduct, students at the Bea Salazar Learning Center shall adhere to the following:  

Shirt

  • Solid white button-up, polo, or crew neck tee shirt. All shirts/blouses must have sleeves. Undergarments may not be visible through the shirt. One plain white shirt may be worn under the uniform shirt.
  • Shirts are to fit properly, remain tucked in at all times, and worn as intended.
  • Sweaters or sweatshirts worn inside the building must be solid white or grey only. Hoodies may not be worn inside the building.

Pants

  • Khaki pants/shorts must be worn with a belt and must fit properly: Pants may not sag in the rear. Pants may not be rolled or cuffed. Joggers are allowed.
  • No athletic shorts or pants may be worn under the required khaki pants or shorts.

Shoes/Socks

  • Shoes will be solid white or black with matching shoelaces. TENNIS SHOES only.
  • Socks will be solid white.  
  • Flip-flops, house shoes and boots are not permitted.

Misc.

  • No logos larger than 2 inches may be visible on any item of clothing.
  • Black, brown or khaki belts must be worn at all times.
  • Jewelry will not be worn including spacers.
  • No finger nail polish or artificial nails.
  • Tattoos must be covered at all times.
  • All items worn in hair (elastics, bobbi pins, etc.) should be solid white, black, grey or brown.
  • Hair style and color must comply with the CFBISD Code of Conduct.
  • Bags, backpacks, wallets and purses are not allowed on campus.
  • Outerwear, including but not limited to coats, hats, caps, head coverings, gloves must be left at the front door.

**Gang-related dress code violations will result in disciplinary action.

Principal is the Final Authority:

The Board delegates to the principal the authority to make final determinations as to whether clothing or grooming is or is not within this policy. The ruling of the building principal regarding compliance or non-compliance with the Dress & Grooming Policy and corresponding consequences assigned for violation of this policy is final, and may not be appealed to the Superintendent, his/her designee, or the Board.

As you prepare for Intake at Bea Salazar please make sure to be in dress code. Our required dress code is as follows:

Shirt: Solid white shirt with sleeves and no logos larger than 2 inches.  Button up or crew neck only.

Pants: Solid khaki style pants or shorts

Sock: Solid white socks

Shoes: Solid white or black tennis shoes with matching sole and shoelaces. TENNIS SHOES only.

Belt: Solid black, brown or khaki belts for young men

Optional Sweatshirt: Solid gray or white without a hood

Blue Jeans & Tennis Shoes on Fridays IF:

  • Monday thru Thursday students:

1. Arrive at school on time

2. Are in dress code from the moment they walk through the front door

  • The dress code for Jean Friday will be school appropriate blue jeans with DAEP uniform shirt and your choice of tennis shoes.

Permitted Items:

  • Cash (all cash goes into student’s lunch account).
  • Bus Pass
  • ID Badge
  • Keys on a key ring with no charms or chains
  • Chips or food in clear zip lock bag or plastic grocery bag

Prohibited Items:

  • Cell phones ($15 fee to be returned to parent)
  • Makeup – combs/brushes
  • Gum/candy/breath mints
  • Opened bags of food i.e.,: chips and opened/drinks
  • Jewelry/watches
  • Purses/backpacks/athletic bags/lunch boxes
  • Any medication that is not checked in with nurse, i.e., eye drops, cough drops, chap stick, nasal inhalants, etc.

These items will be confiscated and released back to the student at the end of their placement unless a parent comes to reclaim them (except for food or candies).

Very Important Information

  • Any reference to violence, gangs, drugs, alcohol or tobacco is unacceptable and will result in a discipline referral.
  • Taggings or drawings are unacceptable.
  • Destroying school property (including white binder) is unacceptable.
