Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD is committed to providing professional health services for our students. A Registered Nurse is assigned to each elementary, middle school and high school campus.
School nursing started in 1902 when the first school nurse was hired in New York City as an extension of the NYC Public Health system to assist in controlling communicable disease in schools. In the present day, school nursing is a specialized practice of public health nursing which protects and promotes student health, facilitates normal development, and advances academic success. School nurses, grounded in evidence-based practice, are the leaders that bridge health care and education, provide care coordination, advocate for quality student-centered care, and collaborate to design systems that allow individuals and communities to develop their full potentials.
