Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Becoming a Substitute Teacher

What are the substitute office hours? 7 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.  Monday thru Friday

What are the steps to become a substitute teacher? Apply online at www.cfbisd.edu/ under employment > current openings.

If invited to become a substitute, you will be notified by email.  Please allow 3 weeks to hear back from the substitute office.

What happens if I am selected to become a substitute teacher? You will receive an email for a mandatory new hire orientation; RSVP by email is required to reserve your seat.Before orientation you will need to complete the AppGarden online substitute training. At orientation you will need to provide a valid driver license, social security card, Tuberculosis test results, voided check, and official college transcript if not yet submitted.
How often does a substitute teacher need to work to remain active? A substitute teacher must work a minimum of 20 full days per school year to remain on the active substitute list.
When is payday for substitute teachers? Substitutes get paid once a month on the 20th of the month.
What is the pay for substitute teacher and substitute aides? Substitute teachers starting at $100 per day.  Substitute classroom aides $70.
