Uniform Procedures

Dear Parents of McWhorter: Our number one priority at MCW is to provide your child with the best, positive learning experience in a safe environment.  We believe that standardized dress (uniforms) has a positive impact on both students’ learning and their behavior. We want you to have this in advance so you can prepare for the new school year. We will be enforcing our dress code more consistently.

Bottoms: Slacks, long shorts, capris, jumpers, or skirts in navy blue, khaki,or  black.  Jeans may be worn only on Fridays with Spirit Wear or College Day with college shirts.  All pants must fit at the waist. Pants must be Dockers style and must be no longer than the bottom of the shoes. Shorts and skirts must not exceed 4 inches above the knee or be above the length of fingertips. Solid navy, white, red, or black leggings/tights may be worn underneath skirts or dresses, only. Skirts and dresses must always be of appropriate length. The following are not allowed: pants with large legs, pants with deep pockets, pants with holes, pants that are bleached out, overalls, or pants commonly referred to as “jeggings.”

Tops: Polo type shirts and blouses with collars in either solid: red, white, light blue, or navy blue. Please no logos or designs. McWhorter Spirit shirts can be worn any day but especially on Friday’s for school spirit days.

Shoes: Closed-toe flat shoes with rubber soles

Warm Tops: Hoodies, sweaters, long-sleeve shirts, zipper jackets, or sweatshirts worn inside the classroom must be the same color as uniform tops; solid: red, white, light blue, or navy blue. Coats worn outside can be any color. Students may be asked to take off any sweater, sweatshirt, or jacket type outerwear, if worn in the classroom.

Repeated violation of the Standard Dress Procedures may result in more serious disciplinary action.
