Welcome Back Rainwater Rockets,

I am so excited to welcome each and every one back for another fantastic school year. This year with our new SPARK STEM Academy gearing up, I’m anticipating enormous success for our students as they continue to think deeper while making connections to the world we live in.

Not only will this generation of students be required to engage in critical thinking, problem solving, inquiry and be a lifelong learner, but they will also be tasked with the discovery of even more advanced technologies to help access and shape our world.

As Dallas native, I too had the desire to continue discovering my dreams as a lifelong learner through the creative arts. I received my BFA and MA of Fine Arts in Jewelry Design/Metal Smithing from Texas Women’s University. I later earned my teaching certification from UT Arlington and taught in the Houston area for two years. After returning to Dallas, I joined the CFB family and taught art for 10 years at L. F. Blanton Elementary.

Moving forward on my career path, in 2003 I became an assistant principal where I divided my time between Rainwater and Country Place. I continued to hone my administrative skills at Katherine McWhorter, and Tom Landry. In 2009 I returned to Rainwater Elementary as the principal while continuing my own learning at Northcentral University and on April 13, 2018, I completed my doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.

Like me, our students will be challenged to persevere with their dreams and reach for the moon; with a focus on skills that will allow them to think critically from day one.

Lastly, we all play an important part in the development of our students. We must forge strong lasting relationships from the start of the school year in order to get our students to take risks and become stakeholders in their learning as they blast off into the new horizon.
