Meet the Assistant Principals

Lisa Bates
Assistant Principal at Perry Middle School, Lisa Bates

Hello Perry Families!

My name is Lisa Bates and I am thrilled to be one of your Assistant Principals at DeWitt Perry Middle School! This is my fourth year serving as the Assistant Principal for students with last names A-L. Previous to my current position I served as the Middle School Science Specialist for CFB for nine years. Prior to my return to CFB, I taught Middle School and Elementary Science in Spring ISD north of Houston and Leander ISD outside of Austin. I am in my twenty-third year in education!

I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University in College Station and a Master’s of Arts in Science Education from the University of Texas at Dallas. I completed my coursework for Instructional Leadership from Lamar University.

I am a CFB product attending Thompson Elementary, Long Middle School and Newman Smith High School.  My husband Brady and I live in Plano with our daughters Sarah and Mary. Sarah is a sophomore at Tarleton State University (Go Texans!) and Mary is a sophomore in high school.

I absolutely love interacting with the students at the middle grades! I approach my position with the passion to help our students make good choices and rise strong from challenges.

Please do not hesitate to call or email me. I look forward to getting to know your student and your families.

Hello Eagle families and communities!  My name is Matthew Smith, and I am excited to join the Perry family as the new Assistant Principal for the 2019-20 school year (students M-Z).  Prior to this great opportunity, I taught 8th grade social studies at Blalack Middle School for 6 years, and 5th grade Language Arts at Riverchase Elementary for four years.  My entire career has been with CFB, and I’m proud and honored to continue that relationship with this amazing district and community.  I am married with two children; my daughter is a Rosemeade Roadrunner and my son attends the district preschool.

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Psychology from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN, and after moving to Texas, discovered a true love for education.  I then pursued my Masters of Teaching degree from TWU in Denton, and finally my Principal certification from Lamar.

Working with middle school students and families has been the most fulfilling part of my professional life.  These years are so important for building confidence, creating useful skills and habits, and learning how to be a successful person both now and in the future.  Thank you, Perry families, for the pleasure of working with you and your students.  I am looking forward to this wonderful year ahead.
