Children at Risk - Gold Ribbon School

Early settlers of Peters Colony, the Furneaux’s were a wealthy farming family. In the early 1900s, before there were public schools, William Furneaux hired a teacher and used his home on Furneaux Road in Carrollton as a private school for area children. Furneaux Elementary School, which opened in 1981, is named in honor of this family and their commitment to educating the children of Carrollton.
