Associate Directors of Choirs, Evan brown

Evan Brown is excited to be entering her fourth year as the Associate Director of Choirs at Newman Smith High School and her fifth year of teaching. Mrs. Brown is also the AP Music Theory teacher at Newman Smith. Prior to teaching at Smith, Mrs. Brown taught at Bowman and Murphy Middle School in Plano ISD where she was named “Best Beginning Teacher of the Year.”

Choirs under the direction of Mrs. Brown have high expectations for themselves musically and as individuals. They achieve at high levels and have received the top honor of “sweepstakes” at UIL. The AP Music Theory program has doubled in size under Mrs. Brown. In 2014, 100% of the AP Music Theory program passed the AP exam. As a vocalist, she is the Alto section leader at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration where, most recently, they sang throughout England. Her professional affiliations include TMEA, TCDA, and ACDA.

Mrs. Brown is a graduate from the University of North Texas with a Bachelors of Music, and a concentration in voice. She currently serves as the Assistant Director for the prestigious UNT All-State Choir camp.
