Head Choral Director, Aaron Lucero

Aaron Lucero is in his first year as the Head Choral Director at Newman Smith High School. Prior to being at Newman Smith, he served as the Associate Choir Director at Lake Highlands High School in Richardson ISD and Robinson Middle School in Plano ISD.

Choirs under the direction of Mr. Lucero have consistently received Sweepstakes at UIL contest and his students have been successful at Solo and Ensemble, Region, and placed in the All-State choirs. In 2013, he had the privilege of assisting and conducting the Robinson Middle School Varsity A Cappella Treble Choir at the Texas Music Educators Association’s annual convention in San Antonio. Mr. Lucero is a sought after tenor soloist in the DFW Metroplex and currently sings in the Highland Park Presbyterian Chorale. He presently serves as the Music Director for Community Christian Church in Richardson, TX and is the Assistant Conductor for the Youth Chorus of the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas. He also serves as the Tenor section leader for the Texas Tech University All-State Choir Camp and is a contributing author for Hal Leonard/McGraw Hill’s latest national choral textbook series Voices in Concert. His professional affiliations include the American Choral Directors Association, Texas Music Educators Association, and Texas Choral Directors Association.

He is a 2012 graduate of Texas Tech University where he received his Bachelor degrees in Music Education and Vocal Performance with a minor in Italian.
