Congratulations to Ranchview High School for being named a Lone Star State School Counselor Association Silver Award Winner for the 2018 school year.
In 2016, The Lone Star State School Counselor Association (LSSSCA) developed a progressive awards system that includes three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. Each level is met with increased levels of rigor designed to elevate school counselor programs to national recognition through The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) awards. Schools receiving the LSSSCA Bronze, Silver or Gold award demonstrated outstanding comprehensive counseling programs that were data-driven, focused on goal completion and aligned to the ASCA National Model. Each application packet was judged according to a rubric that is aligned to the national RAMP award.

The Cross Country teams from Turner High School and Ranchview High School are advancing from district to regionals. Turner girls placed 3rd overall as a team to advance to regionals on Oct. 22. at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie. The Lady Lions are coached by Juan Gomez.
The Ranchview Boys and Girls took 2nd overall as a team at the same event. The Wolves are coached by Tiffany Cherry.
On Saturday, despite driving rain, flooding streets, and the standard crippling fear that goes along with auditioning, we had ten brave students from the Ranchview Orchestra audition for membership into the TMEA Region 31 All-Region High School Symphony Orchestra. Orchestra all-region is always a very tough event as we are competing with our 4A classification against 5A and 6A schools.
Of the ten who auditioned, we placed six into the group! Please congratulate the following Ranchview orchestra members on a job well done:

Joseph Choi, violin 17th chair

In addition to making All-Region, Joseph Choi and Esther Peng also qualified for the Area round of competition, meaning they have been approved to audition for the All-State level! We wish them well as they prepare for the next audition round in two weeks.
The all-region participants will get to enjoy a great musical experience playing professional level music at the Region 31 All-Region Clinic and Concert weekend in December. Once again, please congratulate these students with a “bravo!” on their hours of preparation, nerves of steel, and their great job representing our orchestra, school, and community! We are VERY proud of them!
The Ranchview High School Wolves, coached by Michael Kuban, are District Tennis Champions of 9-4A and will have a bye in the Bi-District Round. Their area round match is Tentatively scheduled for 10:00 AM on Friday in Lake Dallas vs. the Krum/Dallas Roosevelt winner.
The Creekview High School Mustangs, coached by Bill Price, finished 3rd in district 11-5A and will kick-off the Bi-District Round vs. Dallas Seagoville, Monday, Oct. 15 at 1 PM at the Creekview courts.
The Newman Smith High School Trojans finished 4th in district 11-5A tennis and will kick-off the Bi-District Round vs. Dallas Spruce. The event will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 4 PM at Newman Smith High School.
The Turner High School Lions, coached by Robert Evans, finished 5th place just one spot shy of the playoffs.
