McWhorter Elementary Featured in Teach Like a Champion Blog
Blogger Doug Lemov (@Doug_Lemov) featured McWhorter Elementary in a post about a writing strategy called STACK AUDIT. The following is an excerpt from the post.

McCoy Elementary Student Wins Best Actor Award
Aarav Kansupada, a LEAP 4th grader at Mccoy Elementary, won the “Best Actor” award at the Irving’s 52nd Annual One Act Play Competition held at the Irving Arts Center on August 2, 2016. He represented the Cimarron Recreation Centre. Way to go, Aarav!

Newman Smith Students Honor Police and Fire
The Newman Smith Leadership class delivered some appreciation goodies to our local police and fire departments this morning on behalf of NSHS. This is something we have done annually to show our appreciation for everything they do for our community in remembrance of 9/11 since the attacks in 2001.
