Good Elementary students dress in 1950s era attire to celebrate 60 years of Good Elementary

The doors of R. E. Good Elementary opened for the first time in 1956. Many life-long memories have been made and cherished within its walls over the past 6 decades, and the staff and students celebrated their campus’ 60th birthday in style. Students and staff dressed in 1950s-era attire, danced to 1950s music and learned to limbo and hula-hoop. Click here to see more photos from this event.

Newman Smith Hosts Korean Students from Guri City

Newman Smith hosted a small group of Korean students from Guri City, sister city to Carrollton. They showed the Korean students a glimpse of what it's like to live in Texas by touring their school and classrooms, escorting them on field trips around the Metroplex, and by hosting dinner and parties. This was also featured as an article in Texas Korea Daily.

Thompson Elementary hosted the 3rd annual Cougar 2K on Thursday, November 17, 2016. This event, hosted by our PTA, raises money for recess equipment and programs throughout the school year. Students participate in a run through the Carrollton Greenbelt while students, parents and community members cheer them on. At the completion of the event, students gathered to celebrate a great run with water, temporary tattoos and a DJ. We are already counting down the days and planning next year’s event!

Stark Elementary Collaborates with Bricks 4 Kidz for STEAM Family Night

Janie Stark collaborated with Bricks 4 Kidz for a fun family night of learning using STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) concepts. Students were engaged in a dynamic learning experience that was imaginative, multi-sensory, and entertaining. Students were highly engaged while learning such important topics as laws of motion, gears, torque and friction, robotics, space exploration, and movie making.  During this event students were able to enhance their problem solving skills, foster teamwork and collaboration with their parents and peers, develop an appreciation of how things work and spark their imagination. It was a wonderful evening for the students and parents of Janie Stark!

Smith Golfer Wins Second Place Medal

Congratulations to Senior Trojan Golfer Casey Washmon for shooting her personal best score yesterday at The Tribute hosted by Ranchview High School. Casey finished 1 over par-shooting a low score of 73. She was the 2nd place medalist. This will conclude her fall season. She finished in the top 3 in all 3 of her fall tournaments. Congratulations to her!

Congratulations to our Balanced IB Scholars

Congratulations to the following students who have been recognized as BALANCED IB Scholars!  According to the International Baccalaureate, BALANCED students are people who understand the importance of balancing different aspects-intellectual, physical and emotional-to achieve well-being for themselves and others.  They recognize our interdependence with other people and with the world in which we live. The following students were nominated by their teachers, and got to attend a special luncheon to learn how adults have to remain balanced as well:  Samuel Fuentes,  Danielle Nichols, Amaya Harris,  Kapil Yadav, Shun Mizuno, Isabel Cancel. Congratulations to these IB Scholars!
