Dairy MAX Presents $65K Grant to CFBISD

dairymaxlogoDairy MAX, Inc. is a local non-profit dairy council, representing more than 950 dairy farm families to 31 million people across southwest Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas. Dairy MAX communicates the importance of dairy in a nutrient-rich diet, fosters innovation in dairy promotion and educates about farming and industry practices.  The National Dairy Council, local dairy councils like Dairy MAX, and the NFL, in collaboration with the USDA launched a program in 2009 called Fuel Up to Play 60. FUTP 60 empowers students to fuel up with nutrient foods such as low-fat/non-fat dairy, fruit, veggies, and whole grains and participate in physical activity for 60 minutes each day.

On Jan. 9, Dairy MAX presented CFBISD with a Fuel Up to Play 60 grant for $65,130 for this effort.

Smith Wrestling vs. Lovejoy & McKinney North

The Trojans hosted their only home meet of the season last night. Our seniors were honored before the start of the wrestling, and they rose to the occasion. Senior Neriaha Wofford defeated her only opponent of the night against Melissa High School. The three senior boys all competed well and were led by Tyrese Lewis who won both of his matches versus Lovejoy and McKinney North. Chris Conway went 1 and 1 on the evening with a victory versus Lovejoy and a hard fought loss to a tough opponent from McKinney North. Rafael Leon lost both of his matches by decision, but he competed well and exhibited great pride throughout. Kendall Iwuagwu took home the only other Trojan victory on the varsity boys’ side with a victory over his opponent from Lovejoy by fall while Mackenzie Greer took home another victory for the girls with a win against her opponent from Melissa. Although the varsity Trojans lost both of their duals on the evening, they competed hard and are improving as they prepare for the district tournament in February.

The Trojans also got great efforts from several of their JV wrestlers last night. The JV squad was led by sophomore Lenyn Carvalho with two victories on the evening. Freshmen Marshall Masvikeni, Jamel Scott, and Cayden Parrott all wrestled tough throughout the night.

Parent University at Country Place Elementary

Join us for the Country Place Elementary
Parent University on January 10th @ 6:15pm!

Parent University is a chance for parents to take three classes of their choice to learn more about their child’s schooling, ways to improve life at home and plan for the future.  This is a completely FREE event!  There is no charge for child care, classes, or snacks!

In order for parents to be able to enjoy their learning time, childcare will be provided for all potty trained children in the gym.  The kids will get to watch Secret Life of Pets and enjoy a snack while the parents go to classes of their choice.  Feel free to bring the kids in their jammies so it is easier for you to get them to bed after Parent University. Please check children in at the interior entrance to the gym starting at 6:15pm and then head to your class.  A snack will be provided for the kids.  It is a snack, not dinner. You may send your child into the movie with a kid’s meal if you are pressed for time.

Classes can be attended in any order. Just choose the three classes that are interesting to you and decide where you want to go first, second, and third. If you go to a class that is crowded, just choose a different class and go to that class at the next rotation.

Pick 2-3 classes to attend and sign-up using the link below.
