Creekview Film Advances to State Semi-Finals

A huge congratulations to Creekview High School’s Spencer Olson as his documentary short film “Run” has advanced to State semi-finals in the 2017 UIL Young Filmmakers Competition.  The semi-finals will take place in Austin at the Paramount Theatre on March 1.  Congratulations & good luck to Spencer!

Newman Smith Students Win Visual Arts Scholastic Event & Advance to State Competition

The following students received medals at Region at this year’s Visual Art Scholastic Event (V.A.S.E.) art competition.  Out of 1431 artwork entries, Newman Smith High School received 40 medals and had 4 artworks placed at Area and will advanced to compete at State.

Polk Students Accepted into Early College High School

Polk Middle School had 21 students accepted into Early College High School next year.  Early College High School is a partnership between the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD and the Dallas County Community College District.  ECHS is an innovative high school located on the campus of Brookhaven College that allows students an opportunity to earn a high school diploma and 60 college credit hours.  They received their acceptance letters from the Principal, Mr. Arreola on Friday, February 10.  Congratulations!

Polk Students Visit Texas A&M

AVID Students from Polk Middle School visit Texas A&M

AVID students from Polk Middle School visited Texas A&M on Saturday, February 11, where they toured the campus, learned the great history and traditions, as well as, participated in a program to introduce them to the Engineering field.

AVID students have many opportunities to tour universities, talk with recruiters and explore their post-secondary options with confidence.  Students will visit Texas State University and The University of Texas at Austin this Spring.

Ranchview IB Art Students Participate in Regional VASE Art Competition

Please congratulate the IB Art students who participated in the Regional VASE Art Competition on Saturday.  Ranchview took 25 pieces and 21 of those were awarded top marks and medaled in their division. FOUR of those pieces were advanced to the state level!

Creekview Wrestling competed yesterday at the UIL District 9-5A Championships at Highland Park High School. After a hard fought day of wrestling Creekview Boys walked away District Champions winning by a margin of almost 40 points and the Creekview Girls were District Runner-Up falling short of champions by only 2 points! Out of the 14 boys who competed 11 qualified for the regional tournament next week along with 2 regional alternates. Of the 7 girls who competed, all 7 qualified for the regional tournament!
