The Newman Smith Leadership class delivered some appreciation goodies to our local police and fire departments this morning on behalf of NSHS. This is something we have done annually to show our appreciation for everything they do for our community in remembrance of 9/11 since the attacks in 2001.

Smith High School – Orchestras’ Superior UIL Performances
Newman Smith orchestras competed in UIL competition this week–we took four orchestras (sub-non varsity, non varsity, varsity string, and varsity full orchestra).
We made “sweepstakes” with all four groups which is the highest honor for orchestras at UIL—averaging a superior rating in both the concert and sight-reading portions of the event.
Ours and Liberty High School were the only two schools in our region (out of 15 schools that competed) to win sweepstakes with four groups.
This is also the 29th consecutive year that a Newman Smith varsity group has won sweepstakes at UIL
