Farmers Branch Elementary PTA sells Smencils (smell good pencils and erasers) every single Friday! Profits from the sale benefit students with gifts to the school throughout the year. Choose from scents like strawberry and chocolate!
On Aug. 27, third-grade students at Farmers Branch Elementary enjoyed lunch in the cafeteria with Farmers Branch police officers. Students clamored around the officers, eager to sit next to them during lunch.
Farmers Branch Elementary 4th graders are learning swimming skills with their teachers and Coach Cluley at the Natatorium. Half of the 4th-grade class has swimming lessons one week, followed by the other half of the class the following week. The Mustangs will show off their skills to parents on Aug. 31.
On Aug. 22, third-grade students at Farmers Branch Elementary learned some basics of engineering while building structures that would not easily topple over. Students worked in teams to build their collaborative skills.

The Farmers Branch Elementary Mustangs are celebrating 50 years of education in Farmers Branch. The Mustang staff attended the Opening of School Ceremonies on Aug. 13, preparing to begin the new school year.
Teachers and students have come back early at Farmers Branch Elementary to get a jump start on 2018. Students get to meet teachers and engage in some learning activity before the school year begins.
The Educational Results Partnership -ERP names Farmers Branch Elementary as an Honor Roll school for the 2017-2018 Texas Honor Roll. After an extensive analysis of student data for every public school in Texas, the campus was seen as a clear leader in getting students to grade level and beyond. The school will receive recognition in the press as a leader in student achievement, will be provided with a free banner to display on campus, and will be featured on ERP’s website where educators and policy makers seek out high performing schools so that they can replicate success.
The 2017-2018 Honor Roll recognizes public elementary, middle, and high schools that demonstrate high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement over time, and reduction in achievement gaps. For high schools, Honor Roll recognition includes measures of college readiness in students. This year, the Texas Honor Roll recognized 729 higher performing schools that are distinguished for their academic achievement and closing achievement gaps.
Through national research, ERP has identified a common set of success factors in higher performing Honor Roll schools and districts. These include clear, specific learning objectives aligned to college and career readiness, along with evidence-based instructional practices; establishing system-wide mission of college and career readiness for all students; investing in human capital; maintaining data and assessment systems to monitor school and student performance; and deploying resources and guidance to support schools’ efforts to prepare all students for college and career.
