CFB Athletes Advance to Regionals & BeyondCFB athletes advance to Regionals and beyond. Over 23 athletes from Ranchview competef at the Area Track Meet last week in Decatur. Several relay teams and individual events are moving onto Regionals at Texas A&M Commerce this Friday and Saturday.

Alivyah Woodard 4x400m

Seventeen Track athletes from Turner, Creekview, and Newman Smith competed in Frisco last week at the Area Track meet. The following athletes advancing to Regionals at UTA in Arlington Friday and Saturday.

Competing at Regionals are; Creekview’s Gabriel Willis, Area Champion in High Jump and Juan Ortiz, Area Champion in Discus. Also, from Creekview is Micah Walker in the 100m dash. Competing from Newman Smith, is Taylor James in the 400m Dash.

Newman Smith tennis player, Daniel Sanchez, advanced to Regionals in the singles division.

Ranchview freshman golfer, Bohyun Park, is currently competing today and tomorrow in her attempt to advance to State.

Senior Creekview Golfer, Kyle Cox just finished competing at Regionals yesterday with an impressive 3rd place finish out of 96 golfers which qualified him for a fourth trip back to the State Golf Tournament on May 14-15. The event will take place in Georgetown, at Whitewing Golf Course.

RHS Golfer Takes First Place at 4A Championships

RHS golfer takes first place at 4A Championships. Ranchview High School freshman, Bohyun Park scored a 68 on the second day of the event. Her two day total was 136. In the 36-hole competition, Park recorded 12 birdies, 4 bogies, and 20 pars. Park advances to the class 4A State Championship competition. The event will be held at the Slick Rock golf course at Horseshoe Bay Resort in Marble Falls, May 21-22.

Two RHS Basketball Players Sign with Colleges

Two RHS Basketball Players Sign with CollegesTwo RHS Basketball players sign to play their sport with colleges today. Ranchview High School‘s Ariana Soto-Dominguez will play basketball for the United States Merchant Marine Academy. USMMA is a federal service academy that graduates licensed Merchant Marine officers. The officers serve America’s marine transportation and defense needs in peace and war. While she will play for them for 4 years, Soto will also attend prep school for a year beforehand. The academy is located in Kings Point, NY.

RHS senior and soon-to-be Yellow Jacket, Evan Adkins, will play basketball for Howard Payne University. HPU, a private liberal arts institution, sits on 80 acres in Brownwood, TX. HPU has been ranked third in the “Great Schools at Great Prices” category of the “Regional Colleges of the West” division in its category in the 2017 edition of “Best Colleges” by U.S.News & World Report.

IB Hosts 2018 International Night

IB Hosts 2018 International NightIB hosts 2018 International Night at Barbara Bush Middle School. The International Baccalaureate Programme hosted the event on Apr. 18. The Cima Ballet Folkloric group performed in addition to singers from Las Colinas Elementary and Barbara Bush Middle School. Visitors enjoyed watching Nigerian dance, Indian dance, theater, and orchestra performances along with poetry reading and Irish instrumental music. Students made puppets, learned about French speaking countries, and tasted food from all parts of the world on this special day of community sharing. The International Baccalaureate Programme is at four CFB schools; Good Elementary, Las Colinas Elementary, Bush Middle School, and Ranchview High School.

Four RHS Athletes Sign with Colleges

Four RHS Athletes sign with colleges due to their athletic and academic achievements. Lady Wolves basketball players, Mayah Muhammad and Neomi Ellis are heading to college to play their sport. Muhammad will go to Hardin-Simmons University in the fall. Additionally, Ellis signs for a scholarship to Shorter University. Ranchview High School football player, Dequan Lofton, will play for Missouri Valley College, while Lofton’s teammate, Brayson Romine, will play for Austin College. Coaches work with athletes to ensure their academics are a priority. Excellent academic performance is a requirement for all athletic scholarships.

2018 School Lunch Hero Day

2018 School Lunch Hero DayMay 4 is 2018 School Lunch Hero Day. In addition to preparing healthy meals, CFB school nutrition professionals adhere to strict nutrition standards, navigate student food allergies, and offer service with a smile. Our school lunch employees are true heroes. Who needs a cape when you have an apron? While School Nutrition Employee Week is May 7-11,  the sixth annual School Lunch Hero day will be May 4. It is a day to remember and thank nutrition staff. CFB Poetry Slam Teams Sweep Competition

CFB Poetry Slam Teams Sweep Competition

Four CFB high schools and one middle school formed poetry slam teams to participate in the Young DFW Writer’s Louder Than a Bomb Competition. Ranchview, Creekview, Smith, and Turner High Schools, along with Polk Middle School, competed in the event. The event brings over 10 schools from across the metroplex. CFB schools received the most awards at the competition. Turner High School teacher, Tess Mueggenborg, earned the Teacher of the Year award. She is the second teacher from CFB to ever win this honor. RLT sophpmore Maria Nguyen is the recipient of the Giselle Robinson Literary Scholarship. The $6,000 scholarship is for the University of Pennsylvania’s Summer Writing Institute. The Ranchview team is the recipient of the Chuck D Lyrical Activist Award. The award goes to the team poem that effectively advocates for the recognition of a social issue using poetry. RHS won the award for both of their poems.

Ranchview IB Senior Art Show

Ranchview IB Senior Art Show, April 5, 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Ranchview’s Senior IB Art Show is quickly approaching on Thursday, April 5th at 5:30-7:00 pm on the Ranchview Auditorium Stage.  Senior artists have worked for years to create beautiful portfolios. There will also be works from the Juniors on display, as well.  There will be light refreshments and treats for you to enjoy during the show.
