This evening will be your chance to meet the principals, tour the campus, and gain a first look at middle school life. There will also be a special program featuring the fine arts and elective courses, allowing students to sample the many ways they can be involved at Perry.

The directors of English language arts and reading, invite you, your students, and staffs to join us for CFB’s third annual African American Read-In, which will be held at Barbara Bush Middle School on Tuesday, February 6, at 6:00 p.m. Please bring one of your favorite selections written by an African American author to read or perform at this event.
We are joining the National Council of Teachers of English, its Black Caucus, and others by hosting this literary event during Black History Month. It will be our pleasure to add your name to this list of readers for the National African American Read-In, the nation’s first and oldest event dedicated to diversity in literature.

Middle School Students Compete in 2017 UIL One Act Play Competition
On Dec. 1, all CFB middle schools participated in the 2017 UIL One Act Play competition. The topics of the plays included such subjects as Peter Pan, The Holocaust, and the downside of conformity. First place play went to Perry Middle School for The Frogs, second place play went to Barbara Bush Middle School for This is a Test, while third place play went to Polk Middle School for I Never Saw Another Butterfly. The competition was conducted by the R. L. Turner Theater Department.
CFBISD Educational Foundation Presents 2017 Unsung Heroes Teacher Appreciation Breakfast
The CFBISD Educational Foundation held its 2017 Unsung Heroes Teacher Appreciation Breakfast at Brookhaven Country Club. The annual event honors a nominee from across CFB campuses. Principals nominate the outstanding unsung hero from their campus, with the winner being further honored with gifts supplied by the event’s sponsors. Diamond Sponsors of the event, LBJ Express, presented a check to the CFBISD Educational Foundation for $40,000 at the event. The foundation provides scholarships to students and grants to teachers to aid in the classroom.
The keynote speaker for the event was Perry Middle School student, Arnav Koppala. Koppala recently published his second book, Breaking Boundaries. All nominees received a gift bag which included a copy of his book. Koppala is also an actor and avid golfer.
The winner of the Unsung Hero Award was Creekview High School teacher, Jonathan Ray. Ray is the director of the Law & Criminal Justice Academy at Creekview. He has been a Mustang for 11 years. Ray, an vigorous fundraiser for the LCJ Academy, for was awarded a $500 grant for LCJ at the event.

For the 2018-2019 school year, CFBISD will provide its own transportation services. The District will no longer use Dallas County Schools for transportation. CFBISD is in the process of hiring drivers and monitors as well as establishing routes for the school year.

Student Tours: All student tours will be held before school. Students are responsible for getting themselves to the appropriate campus for the start of the tour at 7:45am. A bus will be provided to bring the students back to Perry at 8:45am. Students need to fill out a bus permission form to ride the bus back to Perry.

Be pro-active learning about the transition to high school, by knowing more about its activities and your child’s interests at this great event hosted by the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Association for the Gifted & Talented and the CFB Council PTA.
The program is free & open to the public. The program is suitable for families who want to learn more about CFB high school programs, especially middle school & upper elementary families. Child care is not available.
