2018 School Lunch Hero Day

2018 School Lunch Hero Day

2018 School Lunch Hero DayMay 4 is 2018 School Lunch Hero Day. In addition to preparing healthy meals, CFB school nutrition professionals adhere to strict nutrition standards, navigate student food allergies, and offer service with a smile. Our school lunch employees are true heroes. Who needs a cape when you have an apron? While School Nutrition Employee Week is May 7-11,  the sixth annual School Lunch Hero day will be May 4. It is a day to remember and thank nutrition staff. Let CFB know about your favorite Student Nutrition employee. Take a selfie shaking hands, giving a high-five, or just smiling with your favorite lunch hero, using hashtag #cfblunchhero on Facebook or Twitter.

McCoy Hosts PTA Walkathon

McCoy Hosts PTA Walkathon

As campuses across CFB strive for fitness, McCoy hosts PTA walkathon. The event is a project with the PTA and the American Heart Association. Students at McCoy Elementary and at campuses across the district walked around their campus for 15 minutes today. Some students and staff at McCoy sported drums to help strike a tempo as students began their journey around the building. Additionally, 5th grade students were paired with younger students to walk with during the walkathon. The endeavor is to encourage students to move every day, breathing fresh air, and to start life-long habits of health and fitness. Walking is a great exercise because it is a simple activity that requires no special equipment. According to the American Heart Association, walking at least 30 minutes a day can help reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.
