Troyanns Sweep 2018 Regionals

The Newman Smith High School Troyanns Sweep 2018 Regionals over the weekend. The American Dance / Drill Team Regionals were held in Padre Island on Feb. 10. Troyanns Director, Brittany Claypool, stated that the Troyanns “fought through injury and illness to dominate the competition and brought home awards in every category.”

Team Awards
Sweepstakes and Gussie Nell Davis Award (93 or above in all routines)
Judges Awards (90 or above from all judges) for all team routines (Pom, Military, Prop, Contemporary)
WOW Factor Award for Team Prop (hand picked by the judges to perform again during the awards ceremony)
Outstanding Team (voted on by the teams)
Best Overall Precision
Best Overall Technique
Best Overall Choreography
Best Overall Presentation
First Runner Up Best in Class Team
3rd Place Team Overall

Officer Awards
Sweepstakes and Gussie Nell Davis Award
Judges Awards for all officer routines (Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz)

Parent Education – Dyslexia

Parent Education - DyslexiaCarrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District is hosting its dyslexia parent education program on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in the Carrollton Room of the Educational Services Division Complex (Building B) located at 1820 Pearl Street, Carrollton, TX 75006.

Please plan to spend approximately one hour learning about the needs of dyslexia students and how these needs are addressed in the classroom.

NSHS Hosts College Signing Day 2018

NSHS Hosts National Signing Day 2018NSHS hosts College Signing Day 2018, where the spotlight shines on students for their athletic and academic achievements. Three students from Newman Smith High School signed on the dotted line for National Signing Day. These athletes receive scholarships to attend college because of their high academic performance as well as athletic achievements in their respective sports. NSHS senior, Faith Wesley, signed with Western Texas College in Snyder, TX, to play soccer. Additionally, class of 2018 Trojan, Autumn Parades, signed to play softball with Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma. Furthermore, NSHS senior, Kourtney Kwasnick, signed with the East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, TX, to play softball. Finally, Trojan senior, Andre Overton, signed to play football with Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX. Coaches spoke at the event, praising each athlete’s drive for their sport and for their strong academic record.

RLT Hosts College Signing Day 2018

RLT Hosts National Signing Day 2018RLT hosts College Signing Day 2018, where the spotlight shines on students for their athletic and academic achievements. Three students from R. L. Turner High School signed on the dotted line for National Signing Day. These athletes receive scholarships to attend college because of their high academic performance as well as athletic achievements in their respective sports. RLT senior, Nic Carbajal, signed with Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX, to play football. Additionally, class of 2018 lion, Logan Davis, also signed to play football with HPU. Furthermore, RLT senior, Guy Esquivel, signed with the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX, to play soccer. Coaches spoke at the event, praising each athlete’s drive for their sport and for their strong academic record.

Furthermore, RHS senior, Sarodorick Thompson, signed with Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, to play football. Creekview Department of Dance & MGDC Present Spring Dance Workshop

Moving Ground Dance Company and the Creekview Department of Dance are excited to present our annual dance workshop, featuring artistic dance!

Your child will learn contemporary modern dance and hip hop as well as rhythmic exercises and body conditioning. This event is for boys and girls, and we encourage all to join us! There will be a performance for parents at 11:30 am in the gym.

A dance clinic t-shirt is included, plus a snack & drink at break time.

Please complete the registration form below and mail it along with payment to the address at the bottom of the page, or bring it to register on-site. We accept cash or money order. Walk-ins are welcome!

  • Clinic will be held in the Creekview High School Dance Hall – 3201 Old Denton Road, next to the Gymnasiums.
  • Attire is exercise wear, bare feet for modern, tennis shoes for hip hop, and long hair should be in a ponytail.

All proceeds from this event will be used to help fund travel to the National High School Dance Festival, costumes and dance expenses for the company.
