Creekview Student Competes at the Texas Citizen Bee State

On Saturday, April 29th, the Texas Citizen Bee State Competition was held in Austin, Texas.  Creekview student, Katherine Jouett, competed and placed 4th in the competition.

The Citizen Bee Competition enhances student understanding of the cultural and political history, geography, economics and current events involved in American History. Citizen Bee’s goals include increasing student awareness of their american heritage and the democratic political process. This competition is a great tool to help teachers prepare their students for U.S. History End-of-Course!

Parents and Teachers Applaud 2017 Creekview Honor Graduates

On Apr. 27, teachers and parents applauded the 2017 Creekview Honor Graduates with the annual Senior Honors Breakfast. Parents and teachers were praised by students at the event. Parents celebrated the top 10% of the Ranchview graduating class. Additionally, the top 10 students, salutatorian, and valedictorian were announced.

Ranchview & Creekview Students Compete in Poetry Slam Festival

Ranchview & Creekview Students Make their Mark on Poetry Slam Festival

On Saturday, April 8th, students from Ranchview & Creekview High School represented CFBISD in the “Louder Than a Bomb” Semi-finals.  This event took place at the Latino Cultural Center in Downtown Dallas.

Louder than a Bomb (LTAB) is a high school poetry slam festival and writing program.  LTAB is a 16 week writing program with 3 levels of involvement tailored to fit each campus. The workshops combine old school craft techniques with new school poetics. The students are challenged to study craft through critical examination of literary greats, modern leaders in the genre, and through examination of the lyrics of hip-hop.

Creekview will be moving on to the finals to compete against 4 other schools for the title of LTAB Slam Poetry Champions.  Ranchview is a finalist for the Chuck D Lyricist Activist Award.

2017 CFBISD Life Member Recipients

On April 4, 2017, CFBISD Council PTA recognized all the Life Member recipients in CFBISD at a ceremony at DeWitt Perry Middle School Auditorium.   The Life Member Award is a high honor that recognizes an individual for their outstanding contributions to the well-being of children and youth. The Extended Service Award is for a person that is a Life Member and continues to be actively involved in TX PTA for 10 years.   The National Life Achievement is presented to a person that daily lives out his/her commitment to children.

Preparing for YOUR Future! Presented by Creekview PTSA

Coming April 17th: Preparing for YOUR future!

College 101” for all ninth and tenth graders will explain the academic pathway to college success, including the benefits of PreAP and AP classes.    We will also share information about the PSAT test that ALL sophomores and juniors take, and how those scores link to future success on the SAT and ACT.

Junior Juncture for all eleventh graders will provide a timeline to help students and parents understand the process of college applications, different types of financial aid, and how to use various websites to learn more about planning for college and/or technical schools BEFORE you begin your senior year.

Come learn about the topic that fits you the best!  “College 101” will be in Room B100, while “Junior Juncture” will be in the cafeteria, both at Creekview High School!

Spanish interpretation will be offered for both presentations,

Beginning at 6:30!

Planning for YOUR future is necessary for everyone, so don’t be left out and don’t be late!

Creekview Golfer Wins Third Straight District Title

Congrats to Kyle Cox who fired rounds of 71-70 to win the district title by two shots. On Tuesday, April 4th, Kyle made three birdies and an eagle.  A remarkable round on a day with intense pressure.

As a team, we finished low CFBISD school and 8th overall. Caydon Moseley, Cameron Chopra, Brendan Stout, and Rhys Livingston battled hard for two days in fierce winds and can be proud of their efforts.

Kyle will compete at Regionals April 26-27 in Rockwall.

On March 29th, Creekview High school students Taskeen Zehra, Violet smith and Shaun Houpy were honored at a reception in their honor at The Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) for their art work in the Young Masters Invitational.    All registered grant high school AP fine arts students who are currently enrolled (2016-17) or who were formerly enrolled (2014-16) in the O'Donnell Foundation incentive program and passed the College Board AP fine arts exam(s) were invited to submit the following works for the exhibition:    AP Art History – an original essay in response to a work in the DMA’s permanent collection AP Music Theory – an original four minute composition AP Studio Art – an original two-dimensional or three-dimensional art work Sixty-five works were selected from 896 submissions for the 2017 Dallas Museum of Art AP fine arts exhibition, February 25-April 16, Concourse Gallery.  Congratulations to our Creekview students!

Congratulations to all four soccer teams for advancing in the State Soccer Playoffs- BI DISTRICT CHAMPIONS! Way to go Mustangs and Wolves!
