Blanton Elementary Hosts Family Literacy Night

Blanton Elementary hosted Family Literacy Night.  Parents were invited to learn literacy strategies to help students at home.  Interactive fitness activities focusing on literacy were demonstrated & parents learned how to take advantage of the districts Parent Connect program. The Carrollton Public Library was there to sign up students for library cards.

In Ms. Kopriva’s 4th grade classroom, students became the teachers. Family members completed classroom activities such as creating a reading response, choosing appropriate books with the 5 finger rule, identifying text structures, and completing forms in Google Classroom.  4th grade students then used rubrics to evaluate the work for depth and complexity.  All participating students were able to take home a book for their efforts.

Blanton Students Donate to Help Hurricane Harvey Victims

Blanton Students Donate to Help Hurricane Harvey Victims

As news of the devastation in the Houston area reached north Texas, the CFB community took action to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. The Blanton Bulldogs came out in force to donate hygiene, household, and food items for Metrocrest Services. As refugees from Houston have come to our area, the pantry was emptied at the local non-profit. Metrocrest Services serves the CFB Community by providing classes, clothing, food, pet supplies and more to families in need.

How You Can Help Houston-area Evacuees in Our Area

How You Can Help Houston-area Evacuees in Our Area

How You Can Help Houston-area Evacuees in Our AreaAs we in the CFB community have watched the events unfold to our south, our hearts have broken as we wonder how we can help Houston-area flood victims. Because of the rising water, many of our neighbors from the south have headed to our area for shelter and for school. For those interested in making an immediate impact on the lives of our new neighbors, Metrocrest Services is taking donations for this effort. Metrocrest Services is a local charitable organization that supports individuals and families in the CFB community. The organization provides food, clothing, classes, and more for the people they serve. Due to the surge of Hurricane Harvey refugees, food and hygiene items are currently their biggest needs.

If you’d like to help but are unable to donate at this time, another way you can help is to volunteer for Metrocrest Services.

Please visit the Metrocrest Services website for more information on the specific needs for our new students, families, and neighbors from Houston and surrounding areas.

Confused about dress code / standardized dress at Blanton Elementary?

Confused about dress code / standardized dress at Blanton Elementary?

standardized dress at BlantonWe are sorry for the recent confusion! The policy for standardized dress at Blanton has remained unchanged for the past 13 years. While we do have recommended colors for standardized dress, we do not require that students at Blanton adhere to specific colored clothing. Some parents and students choose to follow the recommended colors (khaki, red and white), but these are optional and not required. For additional questions, please contact our campus at 972-968-1100.
