Barbara Bush Middle School Commemorates Black History Month

On February 24th, the students at Barbara Bush Middle School participated in a school-wide assembly to commemorate Black History Month.  Various theater students dressed up and spoke as prominent figures in History including Maya Angelou and Oprah Winfrey. Other students chose to learn songs and sing for the assembly in between talks.  Art students created "Face Jugs that have historical significance from early American history.    All of the students were taught by the guest speaker, Mrs. Dionne Williams, Engineering Manager at Lockheed Martin.  She spoke to the students about how she earned her multiple degrees and how she kept working on things that are important to her.  The assembly was a wonderful way to cap off our learning about many of the important contributions made by African-Americans throughout history

An Engineer from Lockheed Martin Came to Speak at BBMS

All of the students were taught by the guest speaker, Mrs. Dionne Williams, Engineering Manager at Lockheed Martin.  She spoke to the students about how she earned her multiple degrees and how she kept working on things that are important to her.  The assembly was a wonderful way to cap off our learning about many of the important contributions made by African-Americans throughout history.

Bronco Lead Group of Barbara Bush Middle School Visit Citi Corp.

The 8th Grade Bronco Lead Group of Barbara Bush middle School attended a very special field trip to Citi Corp. in Irving. This large facility houses 5000 employees and mans a 24 hour call center for banking customers from all over the world. Also at this facility, there are Scrum teams who work together to develop new mobile technology for Citi and are constantly developing new ways to keep their banking customers satisfied. The students visited the call center, the fitness center, and learned about the importance of having a positive digital footprint, now and in the future. They learned about Citi's commitment to community volunteering and about various careers that can be pursued as an employee of this large corporation. Thanks to Citi for hosting them and to these leaders for representing Barbara Bush Middle School so well!

IB Scholars at Barbara Bush Middle School Recognized as Principled Students

Congratulations to these IB Scholars at Barbara Bush Middle School! They have been recognized by their teachers as being principled students. According to the International Baccalaureate, principled people act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness and justice, and with respect for the dignity and rights of people everywhere. They take responsibility for their actions and their consequences. These students enjoyed lunch with one of our community leaders, Mr. Dany Smith. He talked with the students about his college career, some of the 28 patents that he holds, and how he is principled in his daily work as a designer for Toyota. Congratulations to all of these Learner Profile Leaders!

Barbara Bush Middle School Participates in African-American Male Academic Bowl

This past weekend, Barbara Bush students participated in the African-American Male Academic Bowl. They had a great time! A few of our teams advanced to additional rounds, but did not move to the championship rounds. Even though they did not move on, they had a great time and gained a great experience. A very special thank you to Ms. Grider and Mrs. Bose for not only their help in preparing the boys, but in helping on Saturday! Way to go, Broncos!

Barbara Bush Middle School Hosts Student Teachers from Korea

As an IB World School, Ranchview High School has been fortunate to have teachers from Ewha University, observing and teaching our students for the last few days.  Coming all the way from Seoul, South Korea, we have learned about their language, their history and their culture.  Other student teachers have been observing and teaching at Las Colinas Elementary and Ranchview High School.  We applaud these young ladies for being risk-takers by teaching about many diverse topics in their second language.

As an IB World School, Barbara Bush Middle School has been fortunate to have teachers from Ewha University, observing and teaching our students for the last few days.  Coming all the way from Seoul, South Korea, we have learned about their language, their history and their culture.  Other student teachers have been observing and teaching at Las Colinas Elementary and Ranchview High School.  We applaud these young ladies for being risk-takers by teaching about many diverse topics in their second language.

Barbara Bush Students Place 1st & 2nd in Annual Spelling Bee

Barbara Bush Middle School is pleased to announce the results of the annual spelling bee.  Out of 120 contestants, we congratulate Trace Bennett for winning and Hoor Tariq for being the runner up!  Trace will represent our school at the CFB District Spelling Bee next week!  Congratulations to these two for their high academic achievement!
