Barbara Bush Middle School Hosts Student Teachers from Korea

As an IB World School, Ranchview High School has been fortunate to have teachers from Ewha University, observing and teaching our students for the last few days. Coming all the way from Seoul, South Korea, we have learned about their language, their history and their culture. Other student teachers have been observing and teaching at Las Colinas Elementary and Ranchview High School. We applaud these young ladies for being risk-takers by teaching about many diverse topics in their second language.

Barbara Bush Students Collect Canned Goods for North Texas Food Bank

The Student Council at Barbara Bush IB World School have been hard at work collecting food for the North Texas Food Bank. By making daily announcements and having a grade level challenge, the students collected 200 food items to deliver just in time for the holiday break. The fine arts department made extra challenges to their students to bring in food items. An online donation campaign was also set up so that parents and community members could go online and donate in the name of Barbara Bush Middle School. Thanks to all who participated in this drive, and thanks to the Student Council for completing some excellent service to their community!

Barbara Bush Students Raise Funds for Angel Tree

broncos

At Barbara Bush Middle School, these IB students are caring and principled when it comes to giving to others.  This group is called “Bronco Lead”, and they took it upon themselves to raise money for an Angel Tree.  They collected donations ranging from pennies to $200 from their own family members, teachers and students, during lunch and morning tutorials.  Together, they raised $600 to “adopt”  eight needy students right here at Bush Middle School.  Each student will receive books, clothing and a fun item that was on their wish list.  The concern shown by these students is another great example of service in action here at this International Baccalaureate World School.  Way to go Broncos!

Barbara Bush Middle School Celebrates Veteran’s Day

Last night, several Barbara  Bush Middle School students participated in a “Salute to our Veterans” program.  There were student speakers who spoke about the courage and sacrifice of soldiers and their families.  The choir and orchestra led the singing of the national anthem and performed the theme for all five branches of military.  There was Wall of Honor to showcase family and friends of BBMS teachers who have served in the military, and there were letters that students had written to thank family members for their protection.  Approximately eight veterans were publicly recognized, including the following staff members at our school: Mr. Michael McDaniel, Ms. Pam Devine, and Ms. Kay Fox.  This IB World School says thank you to all veterans who have served our country so long and so well.
