Rosemeade Elementary Named Blue Ribbon School

U.S. Department of Education - Blue Ribbon logoCFBISD has a proud tradition of excellence in education. Thirteen CFBISD schools have received the national honor of being named Blue Ribbon Schools. Most recently, Rosemeade Elementary was named a Blue Ribbon School in 2016.

On September 28, U.S. Secretary of Education, John B. King, announced that Rosemeade Elementary is one of 279 public and 50 private schools in the nation to be named a Blue Ribbon School.

Schools are nominated for the award by the state department of education, and then complete a comprehensive application about school practices. Schools may apply for status as Exemplary High Performing-among the top schools in a state – or Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing -schools making the fastest progress in their state in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

Principal Amy Miller will represent Rosemeade at a two-day awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., to celebrate their hard-won achievements.

Joining Ms. Miller will be teacher Paula McGuire.

The names of winning schools were announced live online as Secretary King applauded the winning schools, followed by a slide show featuring photos from those schools. Students at Rosemeade Elementary watched the news being unveiled while they were in the cafeteria – some were biting their nails in anticipation – and all burst into applause and screams of excitement when Rosemeade Elementary’s name flashed on the screen.
