District-Wide Talent Competition

District-Wide Talent CompetitionIt’s not a secret that students in CFB have talent. The CFBISD Educational Foundation is hosting a district-wide talent show for CFB students in grades 6-12 to show off those amazing skills. Students may audition as individuals or as a group. There will be 4 audition dates so that students can find a date that works within their schedule. There will be an audition fee of $10 for individual acts, or $25 per group act. Auditions will be in 5-minute time slots from 4:30 – 7 PM on audition days. No student will be denied participation for inability to pay the audition fee, however space is limited. Students or groups unable to cover the fee may contact CFBISD Educational Foundation director, Jeff Moore.

CHS Mock Trial Heads to State

Once again, Creekview High School’s Mock Trial heads to state competition. Over the last two weekends, Creekview Mock Trial has been competing in Regionals in the Dallas Bar Association’s Mock Trial Competition, which involves hundreds of teams from across the state. Creekview advanced from the first weekend of Regionals and beat Frisco and Plano West in single elimination rounds last weekend to advance to the State competition in March.

The Team

The team includes attorneys Allen Mason, Kassandra Busby, and Liza Frolova; witnesses Jazmin Torres, Harris Pierce, and Yusraa Tariq; paralegal Isabella Barkat; and coach Brian Sheguit.

Creekview Mock Trial has earned the state championship six times, including five of the last six years. This year’s case is a criminal manslaughter case about a patient who had a fatal allergic reaction to medication after a hacker put the hospital’s paperless records system offline demanding a ransom. It is loosely based on an episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

District Hosts 2019 Stellar Signature Program Fair

District Hosts 2019 Stellar Signature Program FairOn Jan. 24, CFBISD held the 2019 Stellar Signature Program Fair at Ranchview High School. At this second annual event, parents and students were invited to explore the opportunities that exist within the district. Vendors from local businesses were present, as were staff from CFB campuses to show off what great things are happening in the district. Students were able to interact with exhibits, explore opportunities, and even have a chance to learn a little coding. Whether a student wants to be an astronaut, a hair stylist, a chef, a welder, or a veterinarian – CFB’s Stellar Signature Programs have pathways to get them there. Learn more about our Stellar programs.
