R. L. Turner Choir Students Advance to Region

The next audition will take place on October 15, 2016 at Colleyville Heritage HS.

Davis Elementary Makes the News with their Innovative Mindfulness Techniques

davisThe Dallas Morning News has written an article about Davis Elementary’s self regulation strategy.  Glitter jars and breathing balls are among several mindfulness techniques that have been implemented within the past three years. Lisa Williams, the school’s principal, said she became interested in self-regulation after reading several articles on the subject.

Creekview Student Represented CFBISD at Science and Technology Conference

hannahCreekview 10th grade student Hannah Hinojosa represented Creekview and the state of Texas at the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders in Boston, Massachusetts this summer. This conference is part of The National Leadership Academies and has Nobel Prize winners, former astronauts, United States Surgeon Generals and other prominent names in the technology and scientific community presenting and leading sessions.

We are very proud of her as she represented herself, Creekview, and the state of Texas so very well!

Ranchview Teacher Has Poem Selected for McKinney Art Festival

Congratulations to Ranchview Teacher, Dr. Leslie Cappiello, for having her poems “Night Fire” accepted for the McKinney Arts in Bloom Festival on October 8th.  An artist will be painting an interpretation of the poem for display at the festival.  Congratulations Dr. Cappiello.

McWhorter Elementary Featured in Teach Like a Champion Blog

Newman Smith Teacher Named Fulbright-Hays Scholarship Winner

Congratulation to NSHS AP Government Teacher Amanda Ledwon for being named a Fulbright-Hays Scholar for 2016.

Ledwon received the prestigious scholarship recently and will participate in an extensive five week study assignment in Jordan later this summer.
The topic of the study assignment is “Through the Lens of Jordan: Integrating Middle Eastern Narratives into North Texas Social Studies Curriculum.”

She and nine other North Texas social studies teachers will visit historic Jordanian sites and conference/study with scholars from various countries in the Middle East this summer.
