Central Kindergarteners Learn More About Each Other

On Aug. 25, Kindergarten students at Central Elementary got to know each other better and build relationships with their classmates. Students were given an “About Me” bag to take home and bring back to school the next day. In the bag, they brought items they wanted to show their classmates. Students talked about the items and why they were important to them, allowing their classmates to know them a little better.

Adult Spanish Classes Offered this Fall

Adult Spanish Classes Offered this Fall - Sept. 12 - Nov. 15Presenter Georgina Tezer will be teaching Spanish classes for adults in the fall. Those who are brand new to the language or need a refresher after not studying Spanish for many years will enjoy the Spanish I class. Students will learn a lot of basic vocabulary, learn basic grammar, and engage in Spanish conversations in class. For those who have taken Spanish I, the Spanish II class is a follow up offering that will focus on practicing previously covered material and learning the 2 past tenses in the language.

Ten Weekly Classes

The evening classes are 3 hours long, taught in 10 consecutive weeks. Spanish I will be taught on Thursdays, Sept. 13 – Nov. 15. Spanish II will be taught on Wednesdays, Sept. 12 – Nov. 14. Classes will be held 6 PM – 9 PM in the Farmers Branch Room of the ESDC, Building B., 1820 Pearl Street, Carrollton, TX 75006.

The classes are open to the public. CFB employees pay $50 for the class, all others pay $100. CFB employees should register via Eduphoria on the Staff Portal. Non-CFB employees should contact Georgina Tezer by e-mail at tezerg@cfbisd.edu or by phone at 972-968-6513 for more information and to sign up.

Thousands Attend Community Pep Rally

Over 5,000 people packed the stands at Standridge Stadium for CFB’s first annual Community Pep Rally. Members of the CFB community enjoyed entertainment from the cheerleaders, drill teams, and bands of Creekview, Ranchview, Smith, and Turner High Schools. Members of the volleyball and football teams from each high school ran through their inflatable mascots to cheering crowds. CFB Superintendent, Dr. John Chapman III, greeted attendees and wished students and parents a great 2018-2019 school year. Bands from each high school played their respective fight songs as the community cheered them on.

Rosemeade Utilizes Flexible Seating

Rosemeade Utilizes Flexible SeatingOn Aug. 23, the students in Mrs. Davis’ third grade class practice their typing skills on Chromebooks, while integrating flexible seating. Students sit in differentiated seating arrangements to fit their needs and learning styles. The students sit on large bouncy balls, swivel stools, traditional desks with chairs, floor cushions, and standing desks. Mrs. Davis’ classroom incorporates brain-based research on enhancing student learning through varied seating arrangements.

McCoy Staff Trains in Technology

McCoy Elementary teachers train year-round to help be better teachers for their students. During Professional Development on Aug. 14, staff learned how to “work smarter, not harder” by getting better acquainted with Google forms, Student Portfolios, and a host of other online resources. Digital Learning Specialist, Cirzy Gonzalez, led the training.
