Great Lakes employees delivered 159 books to Rainwater Elementary on Friday, May 12. Â The books will be given to students to help combat “summer slide.” Â The donated books will be shared with students to take home during the summer to provide access to books and help prevent reading skills from sliding backward during the school break.
Studies show that children who read during the summer gain reading skills, while those who don’t often fall behind academically. Great Lakes employees generously donated the books during a week-long Great Lakes Gives drive to benefit their adopted schools. In the past four years, Great Lakes has donated over 3,400 books to Rainwater students.
Thank you for your generosity, Great Lakes!
