Creekview Student Receives Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship

Creekview Student Receives Amazon Scholarship

Creekview High School student, Kenny Chirino, has received a $40,000 scholarship from Amazon.  The scholarship is Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship.  The scholarship allows Chirino to study computer science at a university of his choice.  Additionally, Chirino will received a paid internship at Amazon upon completion of his freshmen year of college.  He plans to attend Yale University in the fall and hopes to use his computer programming skills to help others.

Creekview Mock Trial is 5th in the Nation

Creekview Mock Trial is 5th in the Nation

Creekview High School’s Mock Trial Team has placed 5th in the nation-wide competition.  This is a new record for Creekview, their previous high was 17th.  Team members are:

Each year approximately 30,000 students participate in local high school mock trial competitions throughout the United States, Guam, South Korea, and the Northern Mariana Islands.  From May 11 to 13, 2017 Civics First will host the best teams from each of these states and territories at the 2017 National High School Mock Trial Championship in Hartford, CT. Between 4 rounds and two full days of competitions, students, coaches, parents and supporters will have an opportunity to enjoy nightly events and take in all the sights, sounds, flavors and culture that Hartford has to offer.

Creekview Golfer Wins Region 2-5A Tournment

Creekview Golfer Moving Onto UIL State Tournament

Creekview golfer Kyle Cox has completed one of the greatest golf achievements in CFBISD history by winning the Region 2-5A tournament!  Kyle was the medalist in the UIL Boys 5-A Region II golf tournament.

Kyle’s scores of 72-73 earned him a five-shot victory over an elite field that included the #1 team in the state, Highland Park.

Kyle will compete in the UIL State Golf Tournament May 22-23 in Austin.

Creekview Student Places 4th at the Texas Citizen Bee State Competition

Creekview Student Competes at the Texas Citizen Bee State

On Saturday, April 29th, the Texas Citizen Bee State Competition was held in Austin, Texas.  Creekview student, Katherine Jouett, competed and placed 4th in the competition.

The Citizen Bee Competition enhances student understanding of the cultural and political history, geography, economics and current events involved in American History. Citizen Bee’s goals include increasing student awareness of their american heritage and the democratic political process. This competition is a great tool to help teachers prepare their students for U.S. History End-of-Course!

Parents and Teachers Applaud 2017 Creekview Honor Graduates

On Apr. 27, teachers and parents applauded the 2017 Creekview Honor Graduates with the annual Senior Honors Breakfast. Parents and teachers were praised by students at the event. Parents celebrated the top 10% of the Ranchview graduating class. Additionally, the top 10 students, salutatorian, and valedictorian were announced.

Ranchview & Creekview Students Compete in Poetry Slam Festival

Ranchview & Creekview Students Make their Mark on Poetry Slam Festival

On Saturday, April 8th, students from Ranchview & Creekview High School represented CFBISD in the “Louder Than a Bomb” Semi-finals.  This event took place at the Latino Cultural Center in Downtown Dallas.

Louder than a Bomb (LTAB) is a high school poetry slam festival and writing program.  LTAB is a 16 week writing program with 3 levels of involvement tailored to fit each campus. The workshops combine old school craft techniques with new school poetics. The students are challenged to study craft through critical examination of literary greats, modern leaders in the genre, and through examination of the lyrics of hip-hop.

Creekview will be moving on to the finals to compete against 4 other schools for the title of LTAB Slam Poetry Champions.  Ranchview is a finalist for the Chuck D Lyricist Activist Award.
