Law Academy Students Enjoy a Winning Year
It has been a winning year for the Law and Criminal Justice Academy at Creekview High School. With three new tournaments added to their competition calendar this year, Creekview made history. The Law Academy had 3 freshman teams qualify advance to YMCA State. They advanced to breakout rounds for the first time at Duke Moot Court, and won 5th in the Nation at National Mock Trial. Each year approximately 30,000 students participate in local high school mock trial competitions throughout the United States, Guam, South Korea, and the Northern Mariana Islands. From May 11 to 13, 2017 Civics First will host the best teams from each of these states and territories at the 2017 National High School Mock Trial Championship in Hartford, CT. Between 4 rounds and two full days of competitions, students, coaches, parents and supporters will have an opportunity to enjoy nightly events and take in all the sights, sounds, flavors and culture that Hartford has to offer.

Creekview Student Competes at the Texas Citizen Bee State
On Saturday, April 29th, the Texas Citizen Bee State Competition was held in Austin, Texas. Creekview student, Katherine Jouett, competed and placed 4th in the competition.
The Citizen Bee Competition enhances student understanding of the cultural and political history, geography, economics and current events involved in American History. Citizen Bee’s goals include increasing student awareness of their american heritage and the democratic political process. This competition is a great tool to help teachers prepare their students for U.S. History End-of-Course!

Parents and Teachers Applaud 2017 Creekview Honor Graduates
On Apr. 27, teachers and parents applauded the 2017 Creekview Honor Graduates with the annual Senior Honors Breakfast. Parents and teachers were praised by students at the event. Parents celebrated the top 10% of the Ranchview graduating class. Additionally, the top 10 students, salutatorian, and valedictorian were announced.

The senior class prom will be at The W Hotel, which is located at 2440 Victory Park Lane, Dallas, TX 75219, on May 13th from 8 p.m. – 12 a.m. The cost varies depending on the time of purchase. The closer to the actual prom date, the more expensive. See chart for details. The senior picnic, which is May 25th, is at Austin Ranch. The picnic is from 1-3 p.m. and the address is 2009 Anderson Gibson Road, Grapevine, TX 76051. Tickets may be purchased, with cash, from Deb Moss in the student services office during the school day.

Creekview High School’s Mock Trial Team is the 2017 Dallas Bar State Mock Trial Champion. This is back-to-back wins for the exceptional team from the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District. Their win solidifies the group as one of the best mock trial teams in the State of Texas.

Thousands of high school students in Texas participate every year in this highly competitive academic competition. Each year, the Dallas Bar Mock Trail Competition provides students with the opportunity to work alongside professional lawyers and judges to get a real understanding of the American judicial system.

The Dallas Bar State Mock Trial Competition is open to all high school students – public, private and home school. Creekview’s impressive showing at the competition is one of many wins for the mock trial team this year. Creekview will compete in the National High School Mock Trial Competition held in May.
Creekview Film Advances to State Semi-Finals
A huge congratulations to Creekview High School’s Spencer Olson as his documentary short film “Run” has advanced to State semi-finals in the 2017 UIL Young Filmmakers Competition. The semi-finals will take place in Austin at the Paramount Theatre on March 1. Congratulations & good luck to Spencer!
