The Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) we use is called “Hero.” Hero is an online platform that all teachers, students, and parents can access. Teachers may reward students with Hero points for a variety of reasons including displaying relationship skills, responsible decision making, self-awareness, self-management, and social awareness. Students can also earn points by attending tutorials or certain extracurricular events. Students can redeem their points however they choose; the most common ways students redeem their points are to wear casual clothes on Fridays or at the school store. Parents can sign up with Hero to receive notifications when their student receives points from their teacher(s) for displaying positive behavior.
