Building Community Partners on Curriculum Night
Parents and teachers of grades pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade all came to the annual Curriculum Night at Good Elementary on August 28. This was an informative night where teachers shared the nuts and bolts about a particular grade level. Good Elementary was fortunate enough to have a community partner present that evening! Children’s Health was available to answer parents’ questions regarding the new innovative teledoc system now possible through schools. Many parents signed up to receive services. This was a great night to learn about curriculum and to continue to build bridges with the community.
Rockstar Reading Party at Good Elementary
Students at Good Elementary, IB World School, are Rockstars! These students started the 2018-2019 school year off celebrating summer reading! Reading helps students become better communicators. One 4th grade student said, “I read everyday, even when I was on vacation in Washington DC.” Building stamina, fluency and volume in reading is key to becoming an “exceptional” reader.
Good Students Smiling
Students at Good are still smiling even on the 3rd day of school!

Fundraiser – Ford Drive One for Your School
Good afternoon, Turner Lions! We have a great opportunity coming up for our clubs and organizations to earn some money through the Ford “Drive One For Your School” fundraiser. On October 4th, we will have brand new Ford vehicles here, available for tests drives, from 9:30am to 5:30pm. If we can schedule 300 test drives, we can earn a total of $8000 for our campus. $3000 has been earmarked for prom costs, which means there is $5000 up for grabs for your clubs or organizations. This is where you come in:
- Each club/organization will receive funds based on the number of test drives it can generate.
- The club/organization with the most test drives will win an extra $500.
- Every club/organization with at least 20 test drives will receive an extra $200
- Every club/organization with at least 10 test drives will receive an extra $100
You can share this post with your booster club president and members, to parent and community supporters, to your family and friends, to anyone that you believe might be willing to come and test drive a new Ford. They can sign up for a time slot through the link below to Sign Up Genius. All test drivers must be 18 and have a valid license and insurance. The test drives will take about 5 minutes. When each test driver fills out the form for their test drive, they will indicate which club or organization they are supporting on the top of the form.

Furneaux PTA went all out last night. There was a food truck from Sullivan’s Texas BBQ and a Kona Ice truck. Even though it was raining a little, everyone enjoyed some good food, inflatable slides, games and prizes, face painting and most importantly the comradery. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped PTA accomplish their mission of “Bringing the community together”. It was a wonderful event, sure to be repeated!
Mrs. Faust Named Teacher of the Nine Weeks
Mrs. Faust is currently a 3rd grade Math and Science teacher at Furneaux Elementary. She has taught for 38 years in CFB, and most of those years have been spent as a Brave. Last night Ms. Faust was honored, along with some other CFB teachers, as the Furneaux Teacher of the First Nine Weeks. Each nine weeks, every campus will have a Teacher of the Nine Weeks. This teacher is voted/nominated on by their peers. The Teacher of the Nine Weeks will be honored at a Board Meeting. Campuses will honor 3 teachers each year (1st, 2nd and 3rd Nine Weeks). Every Teacher of the Nine Weeks award recipient will be in the running for the District Teacher of the Year.
