CTE Field Trip Generates Interest in Careers

On Jan. 29, students gained new interest in careers on the CTE field trip to 4 local businesses. Students in the CTE (Career and Technical Education) program visited Alexandria Industries, Applegate EDM, Hilite International, and Western Extrusions. All four businesses are within a 2 mile radius of the R. L. Turner High School campus, making them strong potential employers for CFB students in the near and distant future. The field trip was offered to interested students in all CFB high schools. Students had the opportunity to learn about welding and manufacturing careers, and to meet people already working in that industry.

Local Support

CTE’s manufacturing and welding community partners are dedicated to creating on-site learning opportunities for students in CFB. Students who were on this trip were given the opportunity to apply for internships and part-time employment. The CTE department is continuing to create strong educational pathways within the district to make students marketable to local employers and beyond.
