Congratulations to the following students who have been recognized as BALANCED IB Scholars! According to the International Baccalaureate, BALANCED students are people who understand the importance of balancing different aspects-intellectual, physical and emotional-to achieve well-being for themselves and others. They recognize our interdependence with other people and with the world in which we live. DeWitt Perry Middle School Honors Fight Against Cancer
On October 28th, students and staff honored the life of Sammy Rangel by forming a gold ribbon to signify the fight against childhood cancer.

DeWitt Perry’s 2016 Career Day was held on November 4th and was a huge success. Our students had the opportunity to learn from professionals within the local community; sharing the message that through education, their futures are bright and their possibilities are endless!
Field Middle School Celebrates Veteran’s Day
On Friday, November 11th the students at Vivian Field middle school learned Veteran’s Day was more than a mere date on a calendar but a holiday full of stories, traditions and memories. They learned when you see a vet today you say, “Thank you and welcome home.”
Ranchview Students Receive Individual Golf Medals
Please join me congratulating Senior Ann Wang on receiving her first individual golf medal yesterday at the Denton Bronco JV Roundup held at Lake Park Golf course in Lewisville. She scored her personal best a 102 and received a 5th place medal! Freshman Leilani Rife also received her first individual golf medal by scoring a 103 and receiving a 7th place medal.

Newman Smith Debate Team Wins Numerous Awards at Sachse High School Tournament
The Newman Smith Debate Team competed at the Sachse High School Tournament on Saturday November 12.
The team won many awards with all Smith students attending reaching the elimination rounds in an event.

Turner Drumline Placed 3rd at the Lone Star Classic Drumline Competition
Turner Drumline placed third in their division at the Lone Star Classic Drumline Competition this past Saturday. The Lone Star Classic Drumline Competition is the largest high school drumline competition in the state of Texas. They also received Best Snare Line and Best Tenor Line in their division.

SAFE! – Issues Affecting Today’s Teens and How You Can Help
Our district will be hosting a parent education presentation on “SAFE! – Issues Affecting Today’s Teens and How You Can Help”. The presenter is Vanita Halliburton, president of the Grant Halliburton Foundation, a non-profit organization that works to raise awareness and understanding of adolescent mental health and suicide prevention.
