Team Reports:

Volleyball:

The Lady Trojans travelled to Bryan Adams Friday night to take on the Lady Cougars.

It was a great night to be a Trojan.  All Teams won.  So stand up and do the HAPPY DANCE!!!!  Proud of these young ladies.  Everyone has been practicing hard and with the determination to succeed.

The Freshmen travelled Saturday to go play in the West Mesquite Tournament.  They won their pool 5 -1 to place them in the Gold bracket.  Way to go ladies.

This week is a big week for the Trojan Nation.  The Lady Trojans play host to the Lady Mustangs of Creekview, Tuesday night.  Bring that Trojan Spirit and lets “RAISE THE ROOF”.

Let’s All STAND UP AND DO THE HAPPY DANCE HAPPY DANCE !!!!!!

The Trojan Pride is strong!!  The Lady Trojans played hosted the Lady Chargers Tuesday night.  It was a great night to be a Trojan for we swept the Lady Chargers.

The Freshmen have been practicing hard on ball control and taking charge.  They did an excellent job tonight winning 25-10, 25-9  Great job ladies

The Junior Varsity took the court playing with the same intensity as they did in the tournament.  These ladies have grown in the game and their future looks bright.  The scores were 25-5, 25-9

The Varsity team is now 2-2 in district play.  We are focusing on discipline of the game and executing with determination to finish strong in the 1st half of District.  We had 14 Service Aces, 5 blocks and 30 kills.  Our Serve Receive was 97%.  That is a WOW factor!!!

The scores were 25-7, 25-17, 25-10.  Great job ladies.

The Lady Trojan finish the week at Bryan Adams on Friday.  Next week we play host to Creekview on Tuesday, Sept. 25 and travel to Turner on Friday, Sept. 28.  This will finish the 1st round of District.

Football:

We were on our BYE week.  We are preparing for our first District game against Colleyville Heritage.

Cross Country:

What would their Mudder say?

The 2018 Coppell Invitational was one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen. Sinking in mud as deep as one foot in some parts of the course, the Newman Smith Cross Country team showed great heart on Saturday in conditions that can best be described as “character-building.” Due to the extreme amounts of mud that became encrusted on the automatic timing devices attached to the jersey bibs, only one third of all runners in the race were recorded as they crossed the line, so there are no official times or team scores. Despite that disappointment, this is sort of thing that the kids will talk about for years.  Here is the list of kids who participated:

Jimena Robledo

Leslie Sanchez

Brisa Westbrook

Eitsy Castro

Lesly Villamil

Jose Caro

Cristofer Trujillo

Ryann Montalvo

Carlos De Dios

Francisco Martinez

Johan Alcocer

Jose Gutierrez

Subhaan Bilal

Jonathon Rodas

Gregory Kashpureff

Carmine Marino

David Pelayo

Angel Santana

Bryan Torres

Angel Marquez

Mario Mendoza

Parker Cremeans

Tennis:

The Newman Smith tennis team continued its dominating ways by defeating Dallas Conrad with a score of 19-0. We are progressively improving and playing more consistent tennis each week. Next week we look to continue our winning ways against Dallas Bryan Adams on Tuesday.

Rosemeade First Graders Improve Letter Formation

Rosemeade First Graders Improve Letter FormationFirst-graders improve their letter formation with the help of Rosemeade Elementary’s Occupational Therapist. The students in Mrs. Thomas’ class are practicing the rules for better letter formation. Tall letters touch the top line, small letters sit on the bottom line, and fall letters go underneath the line. The first-grade students made goals to improve their writing, and letter formation is just one of steps toward this goal.
