Great News from RLT

RLT Wrestling goes to state competition! Please congratulate the R.L.Turner Wrestling Team for a job well done at the Texas State High School Wrestling Championships in Houston. Dario Rivera, Abram Gonzalez, Matt Peoza, Esua Giron, and Matt Thorp wrestled well against the best in the state. Special recognition goes to Gabriela Aguinada. On day one of the state championships, she went undefeated earning back to back wins. By the end of the tournament, she placed 6th in the entire state of Texas in the 110 pound weight class division. The R.L. Turner Wrestling Team wants to thank everyone for their support and looks forward to continued success. RLT Destination Imagination advances!! The RLT D.I. team took 2nd place last week, and only missed 1st place by less than (1/2) a point. They beat out teams that have been competing together for 11 years! The team has qualified to compete at the Texas State DI Tournament in Lubbock in early April. RLT DECA advances!! The RLT DECA Pride competed in the State Competition in San Antonio, and advance to compete at the International Conference in April. Please congratulate: Jose Alvarado Sahil Jiwani Angelica Luna Hillary Martinez We also have alternates who may be moving on to compete: Raul Gurrola Raul Garcia RLT Lionettes and Men's Dance Team clean up at competition!! CFBISD Students Compete in “Destination Imagination”

 

CFBISD students showcase their creativity and innovation at local academic competition February 25, 2017 – 3 advance to the State Tournament!

TVNC Destination Imagination hosted an innovative, fun-filled tournament called Destination Imagination (DI) at Guyer High School in Denton, TX. Student teams from more than 200 North Texas schools presented their creative solutions to a number of mind-bending challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts and social entrepreneurship.

12 CFB teams spent weeks perfecting their Challenge Solutions prior to the tournament. Each solution was bursting with distinctive creativity and innovation.   Teams from Country Place Elementary, Kent Elementary and Turner High School have advanced to Texas state tournament to be held in Lubbock April 7-9.

The 5th grade Country Place team earned 1st place in Improvisational Theater.  Team members include: Scotty Brady, Olivia Brewer, Jaclyn, Decherd, Olivia Ker, Tre Macias, Quentin Maese and Reid Sherman.  The team is managed by parent volunteer, Abbie Sherman.

The 4th grade Kent Elementary team earned 1st place in Fine Arts.  Team members include: Nina Barrientos, Jenny Cho, Sabah Parali, Katelyn Sorensen and Caroline Wimberly.  The team is managed by parent volunteer, April Sorensen.

The Turner High School team earned 2nd place in DI Extreme.  Team members include: Riley Carlin, Jordan Gottschalk, Hannah Norris and Graham Viegut.  The team is managed by parent volunteer, Catherine Carlin.

Farmers Branch Elementary & R. L. Turner Students Participate in “Jump Rope for Heart”

 

Farmers Branch Elementary students along with help from generous volunteers from the R. L. Turner football team participated in Jump Rope for Heart.  Jump Rope for Heart is a fundraising and physical activity program based around skipping.  It teaches school-aged children how to keep fit and healthy, all while having fun and raising vital funds for heart disease research and education.

Regional Wrestling Results & State-Bound Competition

Congratulations to all of our wrestlers – boys and girls from Creekview, Newman Smith, and Turner who competed at Regionals last weekend. Our athletes have done an amazing job and it’s not over yet!  Please see the list of wrestlers who will be competing at STATE this Friday and Saturday, going for the ultimate goal of State Champion in Austin.

R.L. Turner Students Earn 3 Medals at VASE Competition

On Saturday, February 11, eight R.L. Turner artists competed in the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) Competition at Coppell High School.  We walked away with three medals! They put a lot of hard work and dedication they put into their artwork.
