Newman Smith Wins One-Act Play Bi-District

Congratulations to the Newman Smith One-Act Play Cast!

The group competing at the UIL Bi-District One-Act Play Contest Thursday earned a FIRST place finish advancing to Area Competition next month.  The cast, composed of Ariana Pleasure, Cassidy Fox, Joy Walden, Sarah Babick, Ben Stegmair, Jesus Mitchell, Ashad Zuberi, Rahjon Singleton, Eric Talamantes, Matthew Holden, Christina Hollie, Nicole Wedesky and Lauren Rangel were outstanding in performing scenes from “These Shining Lives” by Melanie Marnich.

Running Crew members are: Yanelly Vargas, Julien Tagnon, Elias Gomez, Rory Manley, and Courtney Ashwood.

Alternates are: Anaiya Moran, Karla Camacho, Edgar Palacios, and Alec Eoff.

Newman Smith will compete in Area Competition April 1 at Plano West High School at 4 p.m.

NSHS Theatre Directors are Tyler Brodess and Abby Kraemer.

Ranchview Golf District 10-4A Results

The Ranchview women's golf team earned the schools 6th district women's golf title at Tenison Golf Park on Wednesday March 22 and Thursday March 23rd and became District 10-4A Champions. Senior Ava Castillo captured her 4th district low medalist honor!  The men's team placed second. Junior Andrew Ahn shot a personal best 77 and finished in second place as a medalist.  Ranchview golfers include: Senior Ava Marie Castillo Senior Priyanka Pohar Senior Ann Marie Wang Junior Joann Yang  Senior Scott Williams Junior Andrew Ahn Sophomore Zhongyuan Wang Freshman Noah Kim Freshman Kiano Kelly  Both Teams advance to Regionals at the Van Zandt Country Club in Canton April 24-27  Congratulations!

Ranchview Boys & Girls Soccer Headed to Playoffs!

Congratulations to the Ranchview Boys & Girls Soccer Teams in their inaugural year of play – they both made the State Playoffs! The Boys were District Champions and the girls were Runner Ups.

Playoff info for the upcoming Bi-District Game:

Thursday, March 23rd, 2017 at Irving School Stadium – 600 E. Sixth Street, Irving, TX 75060 – Located adjacent to Bowie MS
Game times are:
6:30PM – Girls Game : Ranchview vs Pinkston HS
8:00PM – Boys Game: Ranchview vs Roosevelt HS

McKamy Ensemble to Perform at the National Orff-Schulwerk Association Convention

McKamy Ensemble Chosen by the American Orff-Schulwerk Association

The McKamy Orff Ensemble have been selected to perform at the National Orff-Schulwerk Association Conventio, which will be held in Fort Worth on November 11 at 2:30 P.M.  Under the direction of Billy Ferguson, they will perform for approximately 25 minutes.  This is a national honor that is highly sought after by many across the nation.  Mr. Ferguson and his students face an exciting challenge as they prepare for their November performance, but their concert will be one of the highlights of the conference.  Congratulations to Billy Ferguson and all of the McKamy Orff Ensemble!

Child Development Academy Commemorate World Down Syndrome Day

The Child Development Academy (CDA) is a day care for CFBISD employees only.  It strives to provide a warm and nurturing atmosphere for all ages.  On Tuesday, March 21st, the teachers at the CDA commemorated World Down Syndrome Day by wearing matching shirts.    World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), observed on 21 March every year, is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012.  Down Syndrome International encourages our friends all over the world to choose their own activities and events on WDSD to help raise awareness of what Down syndrome is, what it means to have Down syndrome, and how people with Down syndrome play a vital role in our lives and communities.
