CHS Wrestler Places at State

CHS Wrestler Places at StateCHS wrestler places at State, wrapping up the season on a high note. Creekview High School wrestler, Rishard Woodley, took 4th place in the 160 lb. weight class. Only the top 16 students in the state qualify for the state tournament in each weight class. Woodley landed at 4th place state-wide in his weight class after 2 days of competition. Woodley intends to continue wrestling at the college level. Additionally, Woodley was offered scholarships from several colleges over the weekend. Head wrestling coach, Sean Kitchen, states, “this is a prestigious accomplishment. Make sure to congratulate this young man when you see him.”

Carrollton Leader Covers 2018 Wrestling Tournaments

Newspaper Covers 2018 Wrestling TournamentsThe Carrollton Leader covers 2018 wrestling tournaments as students across the region compete for slots fight at the State Level. At the 9-5A tourney, Creekview High School boys took 2nd place and the CHS girls took 3rd. Turner High School took 4th place in girls and 7th place in boys’ wrestling, while Smith High School earned 7th in girls’ and 8th in boys’.

Superintendent Announces Retirement

Superintendent Announces Retirement

Superintendent Announces RetirementDr. Bobby Burns, CFBISD Superintendent, announces retirement – effective July 1, 2018. While serving CFBISD as Superintendent for 10 years, Dr. Burns is in his 30th year with the district, and 39th in education. Beginning his career in Garland as a high school English teacher and athletic coach, Dr. Burns made CFB his home in 1988. He served as assistant principal at Turner High School, principal at Perry Middle School, and as Assistant Superintendent for Administration prior to being named Superintendent.

While being interviewed by the Carrollton Leader, Dr. Burns stated, “It has been my honor to serve the families in CFBISD alongside our amazing employees.” Additionally, Dr. Burns stated, “I am truly grateful for my thirty years in C-FB. This is the greatest school district and the greatest community.”

 The Board of Trustees will begin the process to hire a new Superintendent over the next few months.

RHS Golfer Wins Top Honors

RHS golfer wins top honors at the Richardson High School Joe Munger Memorial Golf Tournament. Ranchview High School freshman, Bohyun Park, took first prize at the event. The competition was held at Canyon Creek Country Club on Feb. 13. This is Park’s 4th high school victory in the sport. Most noteworthy, Park scored an impressive 70 at the tournament. The 6,500-square-yard, 18-hole golf course is a par 70, resides in Richardson, TX. The challenging course frequently hosts both sectional and national qualifiers for the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) and the United States Golf Association (USGA).

CHS Swimmer Takes 4th at State

CHS Swimmer Takes 4thCHS Swimmer Takes 4th at State UIL competition in the 100m breaststroke. Creekview High School athlete, Jennifer Roessler, competed in swimming at the state level for the 4th consecutive year. Roessler finished 14th in the 50m Freestyle (24.81 prelims, 25.00 finals). Most noteworthy, she then took an amazing 4th place in the 100m breast stroke (1:05.54 prelims, 1:05.37 finals). Roessler will continue her swimming career at Iowa State University in the fall. Swimming coach, Bunker Hill, stated, “Please congratulate Jennifer on her final trip to the Texas 5A State Meet. We all wish Jennifer additional success.”

CHS Wrestlers Are State Qualifiers

CHS Wrestlers Are State QualifiersCHS wrestlers are state qualifiers after reigning victorious at the UIL 5A-Region III Championships at Bryan High School. After two days of competition, wrestlers from Creekview High School ended the tournament with the girls’ team named Regional Runner-UP and the boys’ team finishing in 3rd place. Ten wrestlers from CHS advance to the state tournament, including five regional finalists and four regional champions.

RLT wrestlers state bound this week. The boys’ team placed 7th overall and the girls’ team placed 5th. This qualifies the top wrestlers to compete at the state level. Nine wrestlers from R. L. Turner High School are either regional placers or state qualifiers.

CHS Swimmer State 2018 Bound

CHS Swimmer State 2018 BoundCHS swimmer State 2018 bound as senior Jennifer Roessler makes her fourth trip to compete for UIL gold. The swimmer from Creekview High School is at the state level of competition for the fourth consecutive year. She will compete beginning Feb. 16 in two events; 50m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke. Roessler is coached by Bunker Hill. The competition will be held at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center at the University of Texas at Austin.

RHS Girls Varsity Basketball Bi-District Bound

RHS Girls Varsity Basketball Bi-District BoundRHS Girls Varsity Basketball Bi-District Bound this Tuesday. Ranchview Lady Wolves will take on Sanger at the Bi-District playoff game. The game will be held Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at Lake Dallas High School. The venue is located at 3016 Parkridge, Corinth, TX 76210. Tickets will be $5 for adults, $3 for students. The team is coach is Wendy Bartlett. This game is another step in advancing to the state playoffs. Ranchview High School fans are welcome to cheer on the team.
