NCAA Clearinghouse Timeline & Requirements
Student-athletes who want to participate in Division I or II athletics during their first year of enrollment in college must register with the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse. The Clearinghouse will determine a student’s eligibility by his/her grade point average in core classes and college entrance exam scores. Students may register online at www.eligibilitycenter.org.
Prospective student-athletes should be registering for courses in accordance with:
- High-school graduation requirements;
- Appropriate college preparatory curriculum; and
- NCAA core-curriculum requirements.
Junior Year
- Student should take SAT or ACT
- Student should report test scores directly to the Clearinghouse by selecting code 9999 when registering to take the SAT or ACT.
After Junior Year
- Registration for the Clearinghouse must be completed online by visiting www.eligibilitycenter.org and completing the instructions as well as paying the registration fee.
- Request that your transcript be sent from Newman Smith High School to the NCAA.  You must submit an Official transcript to the Clearinghouse.
Post Graduation
- Subsequent to graduation, the high school counselor and prospective student-athlete should review the final transcript before sending it to the NCAA Clearinghouse.
- Upon graduation, Newman Smith High School must send a final copy of the transcript which shows proof of graduation.
