Greetings!
My name is Susan Cox, and I have the privilege of being the librarian at Dale B. Davis Elementary School. I relish connecting students and faculty with books that suit their needs and feed their curiosity! While I prioritize reading, I also strive to guide our 21st-century learners in digital citizenship, problem solving, collaboration, information literacy, and effective research.
I earned my undergraduate degree at Abilene Christian University in history. After teaching secondary history, English, and French for two years, I stayed home with my two young sons. Slowly I began to reenter the world of education through teaching at my sons’ preschool, where I worked and taught for seven years. While I have always known that I wanted to teach young people, I realized during this time that I had a passion for fostering literacy and igniting curiosity, both precursors to academic success and life-long learning. Concurrent with teaching preschool, I enrolled in the University of North Texas to pursue my master’s degree in library science, which I completed in December 2012.
I am now in my seventh year as librarian at Davis Elementary, and I consider it a tremendous blessing to work every day with our students, my colleagues, and parents.  A life-long Texan, I like to escape to the mountains to camp and hike with my husband of 28 years and my two sons, ages 21 and 17.
