2020-2021 School Reopening

Reopening in CFBISD

Updated on 7/16/2020

Dear CFBISD Families,

Thank you for your continued endurance and adaptability as we have worked together during the COVID-19 pandemic.  I know our families and staff have been anxiously awaiting more information about the start of the school year.

After careful consideration of many factors, most importantly the health and well-being of our students and staff, the district has decided to start the school year on August 17 with all students learning remotely.

Remote Learning will be in place for all students during the first three weeks of the school year. Please be assured that we will have systems in place to provide a robust Remote Learning program for your child(ren).

Because the health and safety of our students and staff are a top priority in the decision-making process, CFBISD believes starting school remotely will allow our schools time to refine the established health and safety protocols before introducing students back into the buildings.

We continue to refine / hone our plans as we receive guidance from the Texas Education Agency and state and local health officials. The information changes rapidly, and we understand that more adjustments may be needed in the days ahead.

CFBISD will continue to keep you updated through website updates, social media posts and ParentSquare emails. In the meantime, we ask families to continue to enroll online so we can make plans for families that want to return to Traditional Onsite Learning when it is safe for our students and staff.

Thank you in advance for your continued patience and understanding.

Dear CFBISD Staff and Families,

Thank you all for your continued endurance and adaptability as we collectively work together to make available an excellent opportunity for CFBISD students to learn and grow. As we know, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed education today and for the foreseeable future. Fortunately, the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District can deliver an exceptional educational experience for the new school year despite obstacles that lie before us.

There are various opinions and theories on how to return to school safely. I assure you that CFBISD wants and expects a safe, loving, and physical environment to work and learn. We are also committed to ensuring that CFBISD students receive quality instruction, even when they are not physically on campus.

CFBISD has worked collaboratively to create guidelines that provide a safe learning environment for staff and students as we enter the new 2020 – 2021 school year. Since we realize some parents may be reluctant to send their children back to school, we will be communicating with parents to inform us if their children will take part in onsite, traditional learning or virtually through remote learning. Your choice will help CFBISD to make appropriate plans for the opening of school.

Thank you all, in advance, for your continued partnership with CFBISD as we plan for an innovative year of learning.

Sincerely,

Dr. John E. Chapman III
Superintendent of Schools

General Learning

The Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District is excited to announce two excellent learning options for the 2020-2021 school year: Traditional Onsite Learning or Remote Learning.

While our staff continues to finalize the details of our students’ learning options, we want to share highlights of each option so families can complete their enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year. We want you to make the best choice for your child.

Whether you choose Traditional Onsite or Remote Learning for your child, you can be assured that CFBISD is committed to providing a quality educational experience for both options including:

  • Caring and welcoming atmosphere for your child
  • Certified teacher in each classroom (onsite and remote)
  • Extensive preventive safety measures
  • Social and emotional support for students
  • Exceptional extracurricular opportunities

Both learning options will have the same high academic standards our families expect from CFBISD regarding curriculum, grading, attendance and promotion.

  • Daily, high-quality lessons for your child
  • Instruction in core-content and elective areas
  • Unit sequencing and pacing of instruction
  • Specialized Programs – content mastery, gifted education, stellar academies
  • Grading requirements – high standards you have come to expect
  • Criteria for promotion to the next grade

Note: per Texas Education Code (TEC), §25.092, students must attend 90% of the days a course is offered (with some exceptions) in order to be awarded credit for the course and/or to be promoted to the next grade. This requirement is the same for Traditional and Remote Learning.

Our Goals for your child during the 2020-2021 School Year

Our goal as a school district is to develop adaptable, critical thinking students who will succeed as global leaders and who are committed to our diverse community. We will strive to give your child the best learning environment possible to be a successful learner.

Our motto, High Achievement for All, is as true today as it has been in the past. We are here to help students excel and become future-ready leaders.

We want your feedback.  Please submit your questions to COVID20202021@cfbisd.edu.
