CFBISD Reentry Plan
While we do not know exactly what school will look like when we reopen in the fall,WE DO KNOW that it is important to share valuable information with our staff as it becomes available.
This regular update will provide reentry questions and answers/talking points that will provide insight and tips for the start of the 2020-21 school year.
July 1, 2020 – CFBISD Update #4
Question: How will Remote Learning for the 2020-21 school year be different from At-Home Learning used last year?
Answer: CFBISD will offer Traditional On-Site Learning and Remote Learning options for the 2020-21 school year. The information below explains how Remote Learning from the fall will be different than At-Home Learning that was used last spring. More details and information coming soon about the Traditional On-Site Learning option.

June 30, 2020 – CFBISD Update #3
Question: What supplies will be issued to schools to provide a safe learning environment for our students and teachers? Will temperatures be checked?
Answer: The Texas Education Agency will provide the following supplies when CFBISD schools reopen:
- Disposable Masks – Students
- Disposable Masks – Staff
- Reusable Masks – Students
- Reusable Masks – Staff
- Gloves – Staff Use Only
- Face Shield – Staff Use Only
- Hand Sanitizer
- Face Shields for students depending on activity
June 29, 2020 – CFBISD Update #2
Question: Will the CFBISD 2020-21 calendar change?
Answer: Yes, the 2020-21 CFBISD calendar was modified and approved by the Board of Trustees in June. The revised calendar features COVID-19 make up days in June 2021. These makeup days will be utilized in the event a school closure occurs.

June 25, 2020 – CFBISD Update #1
On June 23, the Texas Education Agency announced that school districts can offer traditional on-site OR synchronous and/or asynchronous remote learning options for the 2020-21 school year.
Explanations of the two remote learning styles:
What is Synchronous Learning?
Instruction that requires all participants to be present at the same time, virtually. Synchronous learning is two-way, real-time, live, instruction between teachers and students, through the computer or other electronic devices or over the phone.
Examples: Live interactive classes with student and teacher participating in real-time, teacher supported work time on video conference calls, scheduled and timed online tests. It is very similar to “on-campus” learning.
What is Asynchronous Learning?
Instruction that requires participants to be virtually present but not at the same time. Asynchronous Learning is a curricular experience where students engage in the learning materials on their own time, interacting daily with the teacher via the computer or other electronic devices or over the phone.
Examples: Asynchronous learning could be self-paced online courses with intermittent teacher instruction, pre-assigned work with formative assessments on paper or in LMS, watching prerecorded videos of instruction with guided support.
Inside information for teachers and staff:
A process is actively being developed to determine traditional on-site learning or remote learning procedures:
- Parents will be contacted and asked to let us know the preferred learning option for their child.
- Data collected from families will help plan and determine class sizes, master schedules, breakfast and lunch options, extracurricular activities and social and emotional needs of CFBISD students.
