Thompson Students Explore Bilingual Texts

On August 31, 4^th & 1^st grade dual language learners at Thompson Elementary engaged in collaborative exploration of bilingual texts. The dual language program, which students enter in kindergarten, contains a combination of English native speakers and Spanish native speakers learning both languages.

Reading and Language arts are taught in Spanish and Math/Science classes are taught in English. At Thompson, buddy reading is a time in which primary and intermediate students pair up to share a love of reading. One student exclaimed, “I look forward to buddy reading every week so I can practice my reading voices!”
