The Trojans hosted their only home meet of the season last night. Our seniors were honored before the start of the wrestling, and they rose to the occasion. Senior Neriaha Wofford defeated her only opponent of the night against Melissa High School. The three senior boys all competed well and were led by Tyrese Lewis who won both of his matches versus Lovejoy and McKinney North. Chris Conway went 1 and 1 on the evening with a victory versus Lovejoy and a hard fought loss to a tough opponent from McKinney North. Rafael Leon lost both of his matches by decision, but he competed well and exhibited great pride throughout. Kendall Iwuagwu took home the only other Trojan victory on the varsity boys’ side with a victory over his opponent from Lovejoy by fall while Mackenzie Greer took home another victory for the girls with a win against her opponent from Melissa. Although the varsity Trojans lost both of their duals on the evening, they competed hard and are improving as they prepare for the district tournament in February.
The Trojans also got great efforts from several of their JV wrestlers last night. The JV squad was led by sophomore Lenyn Carvalho with two victories on the evening. Freshmen Marshall Masvikeni, Jamel Scott, and Cayden Parrott all wrestled tough throughout the night.Â
